I was thinking this as well. He will play well and they will probably trade him at the deadline because he will want to much in negotiations. Then they will preach getting younger. It may actually help us if we tanked this year and got a top pick which could potentially help us next year or within the next few years. Karlsson I assumed will be traded after this year maybe even at the deadline if we are out of the playoffs. Yager who would be in the pros in a year or so. Then maybe a prospect or 2 to make the roster and make an impact. Then the big 3 will probably be in lesser roles

Speaking of turning pro, apparently Howe will be able to turn pro after this year. So at least he won't get stuck playing juniors until he's 20 like everyone else.

Can't take it away from him, but he fell into the absolute perfect situation to win the cup. Pens waisted way too many years on him after it. Kind of like the same situation now, but Sullivan is a legit NHL coach.

I would have just rather kept him for 900k and not signed Grzelcyk for almost 3 mill..we'd have over 5 mill in cap space now...would be a younger team and still have a d-man with his continuity of being developed in the Pens system and playing a lot of games with them.

Edmonton needs the cap space and Pens are still missing a top 6 winger and looking to acquire futures. It makes sense for us, but probably also for some other teams like Utah or Columbus.

Yawn..The lightning freed up cap space to sign guentzel and that's a goal scorer and younger. They didn't sign there captain back and got rid of salary with sergachev 8.5 mil. Thus leaving the lightning with 5.7 mil left to sign whoever. They also signed alot of there regulars by ridding those high priced players. Would the penguins do this for a win now team? NO. WHy did they sign malkin and bring in EK? If this penguin franchise is in a rebuild or retool why do this? The bottom 6 is worse than last years. At least something in that might entice fans to come to a game. Couple players that fight or hit or anything better than what they brought in.

Atkinson for 900,00 way better then anything the penguins signed.
Gergensons for 850,000 way better than anything the penguins signed.
Guentzel for 9.5 mil instead of stamkos and sergechev.
McDonagh for 6.7 mil
JJ moser and geekie are way better than anything dubas got.

If I dont hockey? I hockey 3 to 5 times a week, man...like actually play it. Its summer so theres more ball hockey going on. In fact, this weekend the Tier 1 Provincial mens 5 on 5 ball hockey tournament starts and I will be playing against guys that were drafted, guys currently playing in the Q that are home for summer, a guy who played with Jagr on Jagr's team in Czechia in 2022 and against another team who has one of the stars of Shorsey on their team. So, yeah. I hockey.
