Kinda like how people have to stop expecting Marner to be traded or take a pay cut. Never gonna happen.

The Leafs lost in game 7 OT while Matthews and Nylander missed large chunks of the series, Sammy pooped the bed, and then Woll was out for game 7. The team that JUST beat us despite all our handicaps then went on to take the eventual Cup champs to six games. The margins for going deep in the playoffs are razor thin, and I'm not gonna sit here and b!tch and moan all year when the Leafs have done just about everything they could have to improve.

While I still believe a Marner trade would help the team now. A Tavares not being paid $11M next year will do the same and we keep Marner.

That being said, I like the new coach and additions so far. Not sure I would qualify it as a "run it back".

One year older, one year slower. Finally Keefe tried to spread the talent over 3 lines last year. That absolutely isn't happening either. Weakest forward group of the Matthews era. And call me crazy...but this goaltending tandem is running on hope at best. As usual.

I think the tandem is fine as long as Woll stays healthy and Stolarz keeps on his current track (Monkey posted the numbers earlier, the man works well on a tandem workload).

As long as the Leafs keep their core 4, it's basically running a similar team every season. I do think they did relatively well on the short term for their defense even if the term on Tanev is crazy high.

Fair response and I get that logic too.

Berube is where I mostly find hope. Keefe was terrible at getting the "best" out of the team. They always took nights off. I'm hoping that doesn't happen any more...or as much.

Tree is also not building a small, fancy team like the shiite Dubas did. He's surrounding the manpurse brigayde with tougher players that have the heart to play.

Not sure it's 100% run it back, maybe 50% with a new coach. Can't be worse IMO.
