How does Getting rid of Marner make this team better?
You were not trading him for a Chris Pronger.
You were not using his cap space to sign a Chris Pronger.
So what, trade one of the best Leafs in 50 years, don’t get fair value in return, just to shake things up?
That’s not a recipe for success. - Atomic Wedgie
Thanks, Shanny.
But I disagree. The Leafs have utterly wasted the career of the best player their franchise has ever seen with a bunch of soft, overpaid female doges.
Enjoy the losing. |

We are talking about different things.
I am stating # of games Marner played with Matthews out of lineup.
If you want to dig for stats when not together, be my guest, but imho it’s not a great comparitor.
It won’t show PP production.
It won’t factor in strength of competition.
Your initial hypothesis was if they were on Philly (without each other).
Best comparison is what Mitch does when Matthews isn’t in the lineup.
And when that occurs, Marner is still elite. |

This has been the stated reasons of many for so long on here and what the Runner just said he’s sick of.
All leafs top end talents play same game. Make a boatload of money take up cap space. That can’t be the way to success. It creates poor roster composition. All cash tied up in similar players. Those players typically play on tough games like playoffs.
By trading either Mitch or Willy you can fill the holes in the lineup. For example (hypothetical) of the Leafs did end up packaging Marner and say Lily and a pick for A legit nhl starter and top pair dman and a 3C - the overall team is better. Marner would be the most talented guy in the deal but the Leafs would’ve used him to fill out their roster and still have 34/Willy/JT or if you don’t like JT you could still have 34/88 as your high priced offence. |

Yes I know. My point is that you SHOULD be taking stats of how Marner produced without having the benefit of skating alongside 34. Matthews scored with anyone. That was my point. |

Believe it or not, most of the other blogs' threads are absolute trash. This place is the Taj Mahal compared to cesspits like the Buffalo threads.

Unfortunate, but understandable. Don't know how old you are, and I don't wanna call you an old man by comparison ( ), but my dad is the same way. I'll be getting a gaming PC in the next few months, and I can't (frank)ing wait.
Bolded- People who live their lives through social media, or start arguments for fun, or make one topic their entire personality online are (frank)ing losers. I won't disagree with that. |

But do we still agree you have a # you're willing to give him (11.5M or whatever), you offer it and you don't budge all year?
In that case he walks for nada next summer and you're filling his cap space with, in theory, those same limitations you have now. |

I give him Willy’s contract, and not a penalty more. |

None of this matters. As a group, together, they DO NOT WIN. - fifty__missions
Hate to break this to you, but the Washington Capitals started out with Ovechkin, Backstrom and Semin. They let Semin walk into Free Agency, but he had already started to dwindle in production at age 27 (from 40 goals to 20 in 2 years). But the core group wasn't effectively changed. They had young guys come up and they added to and around the core. The growth of Wilson, Kuznetsov, Holtby and emergence of Carlson gave berth to a newer, better Capitals. It happened within and they didn't break up their core.
Because they weren't going to get better by doing it.
This has been told to you before but you don't care to hear it. Somehow unless you're destroying it, you're not doing anything.

Nah, my buddy's gonna build me a desktop PC.
Won't be nearly as good as my brothers, since I won't be dropping the same $$$ on it that he did, but it'll still be really good, I think.
A lot better than my Xbox, that's for sure. |

I have a pretty basic gaming laptop, Lenovo Legion.. But with an upgraded RAM and graphics. Pretty sweet. It chews through 5.3k footage while editing.

That’s how I feel. Who cares about only games Matthews is hurt. The point is how Mitch does without 34 at all - so the proper stat would be career games without be able to pass to 34 and have 34 mop up his defensive mmmuffins up |
