So he had surgery and doesn't need anything else done to him.
Don't see the issue here at all. Even if he needs another month or so who cares.
Sounds like he had the surgery before playoff time. - Santo_44
Listed day to day and never came back. He may earn a trust but he doesn’t get it for free. They’re not going to cut a $3 mill d man for a $1.5 one regularly either. |

Surgery procedures are very common for NHL players as well...he had it done months ago.
Nothing to see here. - Santo_44
yeah, and reading into it, it's just a less obtrusive method of inserting a scope, so they might not have found anything in there that required actual surgery. |

They have 7 NHL D plus Timmins and they will use all of them. Like every team. |

I mean, that sounds like the procedure went ok to me...
Again, I don't know how Simmons would somehow get his hands on the post-op diagnosis/report and the Leafs wouldn't. - gravyface
Sounds questionable still, listed day to day and never came back. Also they won’t routinely cut Liljegren, a guy making twice as much, for him on a regular basis. |

If their D is healthy all season fantastic.
It won't happen though. |

"I don't see the number S" was the quote.
But I also didn't want to assume the gender obviously.

Recovery time on that procedure is 6-8 weeks, so he may have been super close before they lost the series.
But I agree: I think the Leafs absolutely plan on carrying 8 defensemen if they can. |

I could see them trading Timmins and bringing in a league minimum guy as the 8th D.
Another Benoit where Tre sees potential.
Don't see the point on having 1.1M as the 8th guy. |

What Simmons was saying was true. He missed the end of last season and didn’t get into the post season due to this injury. He didn’t get much attention as a free agent either. Multiple people reported this in the spring as well.
Benoit will be the third pairing guy this year too, he was only top 4 last season due to a lack of anything better.

Benoit Liljegren
Timmins
Hakanpaa who might just take one of the LTIR spots. - Dozzer
All of this is nonsense Dozz.
Rielly, Tanev
Beniot, McCabe
Our best pairing last season will not be broken up, no way. Beniot was there in the top 4 last season because he deserved it and delivered, that pairing played well for the Leafs. Late bloomer, perhaps? Finally got the right opportunity with the right partner, perhaps?
OEL, Hawkintuah
Perfect LD/RD match. One offensive, one more defensive.
Lily is gone for a 3C. Book it.
Also, Hawkintuah is not broken. Fuk Simmons. He had the same surgery as so many others have had and the recovery time of 4-6 weeks suggests it was more of a minor surgery as opposed to a major injury. |

Comtois, Tierney and Clutterbuck for the 4th line.
Askarov for the pipeline.
Leafs need a 3rd line shutdown C. That might have to be a trade.

Look, we'll end up seeing what happens. We've seen cases where a day-to-day issue turns into a far worse issue. We've also seen cases where a day-to-day issue just needs more rest than the player was willing to give the affected area and weren't giving themselves enough time to heal properly.
Day-to-day means, typically, that the team's medical staff, typically in consultation with experts, have concluded that an injury is healing and now it just depends on how long it takes to fully heal and rehab it. The human body does regenerate cartilage. There are a number of procedures in place to stimulate this and if there are problems with that there are surgical procedures, like MACI, which grow cartilage outside of the body and then replace it.
I'll be a bit surprised if this turns out to be anything more than nothingburger.

Not so sure. Looking at the moves they made (most notably, resigning Domi), I get the inkling something big is yet to happen. Wouldn't be surprised to see a 2C coming in from a trade. |

For starters there’s a very new coach, no pairings or lines are guaranteed.
As for the info I’ve provided on the other guy it wasn’t from Simmonds so stop it. It was just how he was “day to day” but never got cleared hence the notable question mark. He’s a 32 year old who will be on the outside of the lineup for the most part not some miracle $1.5 mill guy who takes over for a $3 mill one.

I'd take Jenner but would rather go with Comtois and Clutterbuck on the wings. |
