Ohhhhh. So critical of the organization but the real problem is lack of balance in the line up and here you come. Suddenly no problem. It will find its own way.

Real balanced thinking

Clear you don’t know about the concept of selling high. I don’t want an albatross of a contract while tK is in decline when mitchkov comes into his prime. Get picks and prospects now for him.

I’m trying to figure out how getting paid double time is a put down.

Geez…when you look at that center lineup it’s really depressing.
- Dkos

Was really hoping this so-called rebuild would bring in a young center. Brink signing is good but yes too many RWs. Not sure what the actual plan is and that’s the frustrating part. Can’t just insert a 19 year old phenom and expect unicorns and rainbows. He needs to be set up for success and I don’t see any moves indicating that. If they’re counting on Coots to be MMs mentor, then please explain how that worked out thus far for Frost and Farabee. I’m not trashing the Flyers but they need to have a plan and need to do something to support Michkov.

Pay the price and bring in a young center to play with MM and then bring in a solid mentor like Chicago did with Bears and Foligno. Laughton and TK need to go to help make this happen.

Happy 4th of July to all my fellow Americans!

12 years ago today the Wild signed Parise and Suter to identical contracts. This upcoming season they both will account for over 14 million in dead cap. Next season the number finally goes down to 1.666 for the two of them combined, for 4 more seasons.

Thank God they didnt choose the Flyers, even if those offers tied their hands and they lost Jagr as a result.

Good old Chuck has a tremendous dead cap legacy. 👏

Is Johansen's "injury" behind him for him to be declared healhy for camp? If not, why are the Flyers not crying foul with the league

In order to get the first round pick they had to take him. He has one year left so who really cares

I'm really hoping they don't do that. Any young center available is likely to be less than what they need and be a significant overpay. They need to draft that center.

Still doesn’t get it. He didn’t make Philly do anything. Philly had complete control over whether to trade the player or not. To take it another step further nowhere is there any report that cutter asked or demanded a trade.

Gauthier told the Flyers he wasn't going to play for them. That's not asking for a trade?

For those open minded on this forum, I think this is a great explanation for why Briere chose Luchenko over Buium.

Or ….devils advocate….more teams would have taken a shot and the Flyers would have had more than one offer had it been out. I didn’t like the return then….and I still don’t. Drysdale is a decent prospect for sure but hasn’t been healthy in 3 years.
- landros 2

It was definitely high risk, high reward, but I am starting to see this is how Briere and Jones roll. It was risky taking Michkov with Leonard on the board, and that risk at least for now seems to have paid off. It was risky taking Bonk with the 22nd pick when others thought he would go in the 2nd round, and that at least for now looks to have been the right pick. It was risky picking Luchenko over Buium, and we'll see how that works out. From what I read, the Flyers did get multiple offers for Gauthier but the offer from Anaheim was the best option they had. Its certainly risky given the injury history Drysdale came to the Flyers with, and last season didn't help change that. My hope is Drysdale matures more, gets stronger, learns from Shaw and the risk pays off. Teams that were trading for Gauthier had to know somthing was up, so the Flyers were not going to get a $ for $ return. This year it will be interesting to see how Gauthier and Drysdale do, though they play very different positions. I guess we can compare number of games played to start with

“The flyers didn’t have to trade quitter”

It begins and ends there. All the rest is just excuses for the flyers decision to trade him. It was a knee jerk immature move that only is biting them in the ass. Plain and simple.

Things would’ve played out much better for all had flyers handled it like a professional organization. For all we know maybe cutter was told when drafted he’d be signed after 1st year of college? Maybe he had a right to be pissed. But that wouldn’t excuse him ghosting them either.

- Stayin alive

Ok, play it out for me. Quitter's camp tells the Flyers he no longer wants to play for them and will not sign a ELC. Quitter then ghosts all members of the Flyers organization, including the POHOs and the GM for months. The Flyers however remain adament and do not even consider trading Gauthier. What happens next?

It was a joke, that is all. Happy 4th! We may not agree about hockey, but I think we are completely aligned about our country, and in the end that is the most important. Cheers Bro!

In other words, everything is a risk? Picking Michkov was not a risk. It was an easy pick to make. The Flyers got a gift from the gods when he fell to 7. They got a gift when Buium fell. They returned the git.

So the Flyers sign Bobby Brink at a reasonable price, which is great. So now that’s Konency, Michkov, Tippett, Foerster, Brink and Hathaway. What are we doing here? We have so many right wingers, I don’t even know who or how some of these guys fit.

Farabee-Couturier-Konency
Machkov-Frost-Tippett
Cates-Laughton-Foerster
Deslauriers-Poehling-Hathaway
Brink

Where does Brink go? Not every right wing can play left wing.

- roenick97

Michkov is a RW and so is Brink. Brink has to play in the top 9, otherwise it makes no sense to have in on the team. Right now the Flyers have too many RWs. I have to think some trades are in the works for Flyer wingers not named Michkov, and I just can't see the Flyers coming back next season with Deslauriers, given he hardly played the 2nd half of last season.

this is contrarianism. of course michkov was a risk. that's why he dropped to 7. michkov was a risk as evidenced by us all arguing for months whether he'd ever come to north america at all

why can you have 4th line with Brink and others to get away from the "traditional" 4th line?

flyers are rebuilding so need these guys in the lineip to see what they have to offer no?
