He planted those seeds during the final month of the season.

yea, if they get off to a good start and are playing solid hockey, it will be much of the same from last season, I will hope they make the playoffs. My hope, they struggle as a team, but we see growth, Torts does him done poop and all tell him to fxxk off.

Not good enough. Need the flyers to have about 10 less points.

Could happen. After they sign TK to 9x8 he’ll undoubtedly blow something out and miss the rest of the season. Captain Coots and Drysdale will turn up lame for good portions of the season. The goaltending has the potential to be below average. Torts will sit Frost and Michkov for the much of the season and will limit their ice time when they are in the lineup in favor of Poehling and Cates.

The problem is by the time you want those younger fans to spend money on the team they will already be spending money on something else or some other team. It will be almost impossible to get fans to convert if they are happy spending money elsewhere.

Corporate graveyards are filled by companies to slow to respond to change. Sears, KMart, etc. Blockbuster used to be the big name in video rental. Netflix even tried to sell themselves to Blockbuster but Blockbuster laughed Netflix out of the room.

https://www.independent.c...eting-laugh-b2009607.html

It's possible Buium is the Flyers Netflix but unlike Blockbuster even the worst mismanagement won't result in the team shutting down, just a new PR campaign.

Not buying it that kids won't. Young people are used to switching. They switch partners without a second thought in their sexual lives. They switch phone models, computers, jobs, cities etc etc. Show them excitement of winning and they will come. Seasons tix, maybe not. The current model of long time fans - no. But you just need a large enough group of fans for a subset of them to spend money reliably - they don't have to be the same ones doing so for every game.

Sixers sucked for so long. Now look. Arena sold out every game.

As for your corporate analogy. Not buying that either. Those industries didn't have the antitrust exemption sports franchises do, and the revenue sharing that it entails. They don't have to have an ear to the ground. They don't have to innvovate. All that is needed is at any given time, the sport itself, across all franchises, is bringing in money, and they will get a part of it, and they will be fine.

Across all of recent sports history, how many franchises have failed/folded because they were not winning enough? None. The only time franchises fold is if they move, because of lack of local financial support. Either from fans (Coyotes eg.) or from the city/state (Cleveland Browns)

~90% of Gen Z are "gamers".

Yup. Apparently, according to Marchand, Marner talks about video games and his dog.

Ill never understand how some of these euro soccer players aren't embarrassed by some of the ridiculous dives they take in full view of the high definition cameras.

It is a vicious cycle.

Because those guys don't wear anything protective, bone on bone contact and cleats on bone contact can hurt like the d1ckens. So, referees call those faults whenever they can and it is pretty subjective. So, players claim calls whenever they can.

Pretty exciting game. I wanted Spain to win but Germany was unlucky. I expect France to win against Portugal though in soccer one never knows. And half the Spanish side it seems will miss the next game because of yellows and the other half will be very fatigued.

At the end of the day it's a retrograde team in a retrograde sport.

All the winning in the world isn't gonna make them likeable, shareable or compelling to younger generations.

Gritty was fun for a minute but nobody even cares about him anymore.

Nice goal but Rudiger blew it. The Spanish rarely float those balls across. If you watch Rudiger, he is expecting pass, so he is braced for a sprint. Suddenly ball is in air, and over him to the much shorter Spanish player he is supposed to cover (forget dude's name).

Gritty was brought in at the worst possible time. The Flyers weren’t good, so the Flyers offered up a hand puppet to distract fans from the real issues.

I believe the Flyers can be good again. Any team can become good again, it’s just a matter luck and making the right decisions. Re-signing Konency is the wrong decision. Keeping Frost if you aren’t actually going to use him in the wrong decision.

almost all soccer goals are the result of someones mistake. It was a good game, both had their chances for sure. Why didnt they award a penalty on the handball in OT?

Personally I thought he stuck his hand out enough to warrant one.

the net was right behind his hand, shouldve 100% been a call. WIth all the replays theyve been doing, to not call that in OT is crazy

Why TK even wants an extension here does not make sense. He will get paid handsomely on his next contract. Why not get paid with a chance of winning something.
