Why TK even wants an extension here does not make sense. He will get paid handsomely on his next contract. Why not get paid with a chance of winning something. - bird_dog_pa
I'm honestly surprised a deal hasn't been announced yet. Could possibly mean negotiations are a little precocious. Maybe Konecny's ask is a bit high? Who knows. |

said that as well. I guess he just wants to take the bag and risk getting hurt? cant fault a guy for that. then ask for a trade later !!!
he likes it here with zero pressure. he can go out no one bothers him I bet. winning is not a top priority if he signs. he is comfortable. |

This contract situation will run into the season and TK will inevitably be injured next season killing any chance of a trade. |

Well honestly it’s not a bad scenario for him to be rostered this year. If they are out of the playoffs he’s sure to be dealt at the deadline |

No they won’t lmmfao. They’ll hold him with hopes of signing him and lose him for nothing in that scenario |

The Flyers like their guys. If Laughton can be had for a cheap aav he should be in line for a nice preemptive extension next offseason as well.

It’s easy to armchair quarterback and say I would take a lighter contract if I had a chance to win the cup. The fact is it’s very hard to do so guys take the money and hope for the best.
I can’t fathom making 7 M a year let alone 9 m a year.
Just 7M is life changing. Invest wisely and your set for life. |

Having players like laughton on the team will help the flyers not have a stellar season |

I still can’t believe the Hathaway extension. I mean I can because this franchise is ran by clowns, but still. |

Don’t even need to invest wisely. Even 1 year at 7 million sets you for life. Not counting any investments over 70 years that’s 100k a year which you can easily live on and be set for life. Just saying lol |

Maybe someone at tdl will be looking for a star on cheap contract with a few years left on contract? |

Too much money? Too many years? Don’t like the player? All of the above? Genuinely curious. |

It shows no direction. Signing Hathaway should have been immediately followed by a Laughton trade especially with Poehling locked up too. But Briere is showing himself to be paralyzed by indecision. The only trades he has made he was forced to make. The plan seems to be to outdraft the competition with middle of the 1st round picks much like Hextall and much like Hextall is going to fail. |

More like paralyzed by the shadow of Torts and the kind of lineup he prefers.
But yeah, it's funny to see the fanbase so optimistic for another round of the Hexy wait-and-see. Michkov plays the part of the new Giroux (if we're even so lucky). |

Hexy 2.0 baby.
Well maybe, however if torts was really running roughshod, I would think at least one of farabee/frost would be gone by now. So DB is holding some power |

I don’t agree that Tortorella has the influence everyone makes him out to have. He’s just an easy villain. Briere is just not ready to be GM and is falling into the exact same mistakes Hextall made like putting too much stock into his own scouting acumen for the draft and believing all his young players will make their ceiling and not accounting for the fact some will absolutely bust. It’s eerily identical. |

Maybe Briere is ready, maybe he's not. There is zero doubt that Tortorella is the main influencer. That doesn't mean that he always gets his way but he obviously wins the battles he wants to go all in on. We know that Tortorella has Hilferty and Jones in his back pocket. Briere is either complicit and in agreement with them or he is just simply outvoted. Based on some of his most recent comments. I'm starting to heavily lean towards he is in agreement. The path that they will take moving forward is not hard to figure out. Especially with Michkov now on board. The rebuild is over. As soon as they can, when the cap is cleared up. They will escalate. This new era of orange will play out without the payoff and we'll be looking at another reset down the road. Before we know it, another decade of futility will be upon us. Only thing that can save us from the incompetence is if they get lucky in the draft. But that will have to be with more than one player.
