First Trouba isnt going anywhere, Drury is trying line up a big deal to not only get younger but bigger and with an edge. The deal is with Ottawa with Brady Tchuck for Miller, Kakko, Perrault and a 1st in 25 & 26. Any takers?

Done. I’d rather Lindgren instead of Miller though

Ottawa is not trading their captain unless he requests a trade. No way Ottawa would make that trade even if he did. Miller is fine but Kakko isn't worth much and the Sens are trying to make the playoffs not rebuild.

Edit also the fact Miller is a LD and they have Chabot and Sanderson for their top 4 LD. They basically traded Chychrun because their need is more on the right side and even with Jensen their top 4 RHD is still weak. He's a short term option and not a very good one imo for the top 4.

For Brady Tkachuk? I’d probably do it but makes 0 sense bc they just got Ullmark.

And that’s only if the $12.9 per year Shesty is demanding is true.

I just think and hope we could do better than him on our first pair. Miller is either that or the 2nd pair. So then 4x4 on your bottom pairing?

What’s Troubadour got left, 3x8 twenty four mil or sixteen?

I feel Trouba would much rather get bought out. Still gets his money, gets to pick his team, and will get another contract with the new team

Of course he would

I still think the best move for Lindgren is to trade him and get a cheaper dman. I won’t be upset if he signs a 2-3 year deal, but we start taking 4-5 years and I’m not so sure I’ll like that.

Lindy is a warrior, however anything more than 3 to 4 years in my opinion would be a mistake.

I’m really not worried that much about 4-5 years down the line though

If Lindgren isn’t here next year we need a replacement on the left side for the 20+ very hard minutes he plays every night

The Cup is still the only acceptable outcome in June of 2025

That last sentence is why I shake my head. Drury needs to do more work to get us there. Don’t think running it back with smith over roslovic is the answer. Guess we will find out

True everything you said, but there should be some growth in some of the younger players like Cuylle, Laffy, Miller, Schneider, etc and maybe some unexpected quality add-ons from down below

At the same time players like Kreider, Panarin and Trouba could be in for some regression

But we could also see a decline from some other guys. Right now, I don’t see the direction of the team. Are we a physical team? Not so sure. Are we a finesse team? Not so sure. A team that’s going to out hustle everyone? Certainly not. I don’t get it.

I’d like to see Othmann Rempe and Edstrom have regular roles this season, but that means Vesey and possibly Kakko are the odd men out.

Miller younger with more upside. Love Lindgren but he isn’t a true 2dman and injury prone.

*edit. Agreed Lindgren in the deal over miller. I’m

He’s the Callahan of today’s team on defense. Gotta cut ties when his value is high or really limit the contract term

I think we’re more likely to see a rebound season from Zibanajad. same for Trouba maybe some regression for Panarin. I would expect CK, Fox and Vinny to perform at least as good.

I’m OK with vesey being a healthy scratch until we need him.

That leaves: to Kakko or not to Kakko
