Here’s a fun thing to think about… now that most would say sj/chi have done stage 1 of rebuilds who are the next few teams to come to realization the rebuild not only needs to start but actually completes stage one 1 of rebuild like sj/chi has done last few seasons (sell of players/draft high a few seasons in a row )

I would normally agree with you, but they just fired there coach for missing the playoffs, so they in win now mode and the keep send wright back down
- SlNlSTER

They fired hakstol because players said they would not come back if hakstol was still going to be the coach.

Nothing to do with missing the playoffs. They also just gave hakstol an extension.

If they had not traded him then the fact they didn’t sign him in March would not amounted to absolutely anything correct?

So if that’s the case then it’s not a royal mistake they didn’t sign him in March.

It may in hindsight been a bad move. A questionable decision for sure. But royal colossal mistake? Nope

That is designated for caving in and trading him. Which under cba they absolutely did not have to do

You think the Flyers could've played hardball and Gauthier may have blinked. Maybe. Sign him in March after NCAA year one and there is no issue. No decision to have to be made. We disagree. They screwed up badly.

What? They are in win now mode? Ya nutz? They’ve been in the league how many years? They aren’t in win now mode.

Of course they are. They just signed Montour and Stephenson

What do you mean? Dave Hakstol is the shining example of what a head coach in this league should be. He just needs a Chris Vandevelde on his roster.

Yes they did screw up badly. Think of it this way

Flyers trade for risto (haha)

They see he sucks and still sign him to extension (lmmfao)

What’s the worse decision?

Just because you make a bad decision doesn’t mean when you still have options that bad decision is the worse decision you can make.

Risto trade = not signing in March
Risto extension= actually trading cutter decision

Hahahahahaha that’s “win now moves”. Real barnburner there.

What exactly are they trying to win now?

Gauthier would have wanted to be traded anyway, the second he realizes Michkov would really be the straw that stirs the drink on the roster.

I just noticed that the “unable to stay healthy” Jamie Drysdale has a 81 game season under his belt. Kid gets run over by a truck while already having shoulder issues but somehow that’s his fault.

Then why fire the coach for missing the playoffs, when the year before they made it.

Ownership might be pushing for playoffs to make more money .

Yea I heard the rumors but I don't fully believe them, will need to hear it coming from a second team he coaches to give the rumor any merit.

We didn't hear that crap when he coach the Flyers.

I’ve been saying this for a while…you can’t call it a rebuild just because you’ve accumulated 3 1rst rnd draft picks….for a single draft next year, especially when you used one from this year to get it.
DB’s moves or lack there of are not moves a rebuilding team makes….the mixed messaging has a lot of fans buying in to the whole rebuild thing but it really isn’t. If it is then Briere is more incompetent then the last guy….which would be saying a lot.

No, I don't live in fantasy land, I simply don't look at things so negatively. I am rooting for Briere to succeed, not expecting him to fail. I am hoping that the Flyers build a great team, not expecting them to do the same ol' thing.

Yes, Briere stated when asked that he tried to move up, but the question came from the media who had heard rumors for weeks that the Flyers were trying to move up. Now I agree with you in one area, the Flyers wouldn't have to move up if they properly tank during the regular season in order to get a high pick. That is why it is REALLY important for the Flyers to take a significant step back this season in order to secure a top 10, even a top 5 pick. I agree with you and have stated previously that if the Flyers are picking 15th, 22nd and 27th, it does nothing to move the needle.

Briere and Jones both stated before the the draft that they would not be active in free agency this year because of the cap situation, but we all know it will improve greatly next season. They also stated that they are targeting the 2025 draft also, and their actions have backed that up. So I think they deserve a chance to execute at the trade deadline and the next draft and free agency, and then we can judge where the team is. I think getting flustered over not being part of free agent frenzy this year does you or I no good. Briere and Jones have a plan, they have stated that plan clearly, and everything they have done up to now has been consistent with that plan.

Finally, I completely disagree with you regarding Quitter. He wanted a guaranteed spot on the team and didn't like to hear that he would have to earn his spot. He is a entititle douchebag and I am actively rooting for him to fail miserably this year. I will state it again, Briere did nothing wrong. Just like Winnipeg has done nothing wrong with McGroarty.

- jd250

Seriously JD, where do you get this from? You are the ONLY person who I have heard regurgitate this as the reason. He wanted to be on the team in March and burn a year, and no guarantee was needed, as he is better than 95% of the roster as an unproven youngster.

The New Era of Orange is nothing more than a stupid marketing slogan to placate to the fanbase. It is and has always been a retool on the fly.

the even funnier thing is these "retools" make zero sense as your retooling a sad sack schitt ass team. the 3 stooges actually think they can build a winner with this slop

Not like it was a a decent or good team that had an off year or what not.
