So then where is the problem? Also, Adams hasn't done a ton to make us think that he is the GM of the future. He also hasn't made stupid trades.

Right? And I would say that only one of them is a major move, and it would be this one (I would think the other one would be a 4-5 D). We are that close to having a really fantastic roster. And more importantly, a roster built with purpose.

The funny thing is that we would still have the assets to make that trade, even if we make the Zegras trade. I doubt that Ottawa would trade in the division, but it is crazy to think that we would still have enough juice to make a trade like that.

The more read up and watch him the more I like. Kid has some potential to be better still too.

Savoie was a fine price to pay. He was never making our top 6 in the near future. And was never going to be a centerman.

But at the same time, you have to acknowledge that he has warts. The team's timeline is reset. If you can get a package like the one being discussed, why wouldn't he do it? There is a lot to like about the guy, but there are also a lot of questions. It isn't like he is a 1C.

And his attitude.

We essentially got Malenstyn for dropping down 3 spots in the first round while still getting a fantastic prospect in that spot. That's it.

We got Mcleod for a prospect that we were fine getting rid of as he didn't fit our plans and was losing value. That all sounds like good business.

He makes 5.75 in each of the next two years, and then one RFA year after that.
