does this roster turnover show how much Adams was off at building a roster?

all these assistants/associate gms and it takes lindy to construct a roster?

Don't agree re: the cupboard. Every team in league would love to have this cadre of players. I will agree that it is always a crap shoot when you are drafting 17-18 YO kids. None of the top guys in the group could be categorized as foundering. Rosen, Ostland, Kulich, even Savoie (Current agreement with CHL screwed his development path. Lit it up and probably bored as hell playing in CHL this year. Could adversely effect how people view him.) all playing very well at their current levels. Later round guys developing well. Sabres do a real good job here. But you can't play all of them. Need to figure who stays and who goes and get good return on your investment. Not 3rd/4th line guy that isn't going to move the needle. Kind of harkens back to the trader Tim years where he carelessly traded away number one pick because he had a lot of them. Didn't trade for quality and set the franchise back for years.

Over-valued prospects is not the achilles heel of this organization.

Yes it is when you don't trade them when there value meets what you perceived it was or it was last off-season

Start winning with what you have, start playing a system to your strengths. Sabres are gonna have a very fast Team. Puck Pressure in your Face Hockey and the turn overs created of that will allow you to play a aggressive Offensive System
- Buff36

How is that plan different than what has been implemented in last three years? Fast, puck pressure, create turnovers and play agressive offensively. Only thing you cite is "in your face" hockey. Who is going to play that game? Going to miraculously turn lambs into tigers? Going to continue to be one of the softest, worst coached D corps in the league and when the leaks inevitably occur watch out?

Not thanks. Will not watch a single game this years.

Pretty much. Kev has no real conviction of his own.

I think people connected the dots with the various conversations that were going on at that time, and the lost look that Briere had after the picks were made.

So it's not the cupboard that is the achilles heel, it's the management of personnel and assets and how you use them to build a winning team. You're making the point.

If the Top 6 takes a hit, and it's very possible with the History of these players we would be in trouble. Especially after that trade, don't get me wrong I think he would fit nicely. But injuries would hurt us
- Buff36

I don't see how this is a question that is specific to this team. But yeah, I think we are in a much better spot to get past them. Nobody on the 3rd line would be an embarrassment on the 2nd line in the way that Greenway was last year. If you have to move up Benson for a few games and bring Biro in to take his spot, you're still doing alright. But yeah, I get the shell-shock of watching Greenway and Okposo playing on the top line.

on completely different note I’ve been pushing for Verbeek to trade for Necas ..

I’d have to think Adams would be very interested in trading for him… he would fit perfectly with you guys…no ??

Well if we get Zegras, I am not sorry Gerbe but the team will look different and I will be interested to watch them.

Will we ever know? The plan (right or wrong) was to be patient the last 2 years. It could be that he is a really good GM that needed urgency. Or it could be that he is a mediocre GM that now has the right people around him.

That was the whole thing, the longer prospects stu, there Value drops. That just natural and the longer you wait the more there Value drops.

Over Ehlers? Not a chance. I'd take Konecny as a cheapish rental. But Ehlers is the better player now and in the future.

They're also into some players with the Flyers but I don't think it's serious right now frost has been the topic .

OK, but the point is what are you filling the spots with when those players move up. I don't mind the trade, but we will have basically traded 3 or 4 prospects closest to being ready to fill those areas. Just find it interesting to see if Adams does pull it off, how does he lessen the pain

I don't get the idea that last year was the time to be patient and now is go time. This is all about job pressure and not a grand plan.

I think that some of this is job pressure but also this is exactly the plan they talked about when KA took over, as much as we all hated the 5 year plan this is it

Patience really should have been gone in November December January of the 1pt season. And what Adams did last offseason killed his plan IMO. He slowed played again and sent his Hope Plan spiraling.

I don't believe that at all. The plan was that these prospects would be good and playing for them this year, not traded away at heavily diminished value.
