I'd imagine he does. I'd also imagine that Ryan McLeod was not purchased for points. - TheSabresTaco
That's fine, doesn't mean using a Former Top 10 pick who was ranked in the Top 2 by most in your prospect pool was good asset management. Just shows Adams waited to long to use a Asset. Hope it works and am not against McLeod cause there some potential there. |

incredible that he went from 'let's just sign our own minimal impact guys again and keep olofsson' to, 'let's jack the bottom 6 to the tits' - TheSabresTaco
To be fair. The bottom 6 last year was pretty bad
Okposos
Oloofsson
Girgensons
Krebs
Greenway
Injured player replacement (rosen, kulich etc)
Skinner
Im sure im missing someone.
They were all slow and absolutely sucked as a collective group. |

I do too, I am not mad about the Trade. But don't tell me a Former Top 10 pick was a good piece to use, especially one that everyone had as your top 2 prospect. - Buff36
For some reason Savoies value has dropped significantly around the league.
Teams see something they don’t like in his game I guess. Time will tell. |

I was fine with the 1 year deals. Because they caused no harm to the salary cap this summer.
I think it’s pretty well known here how much I’ve hated olofsson greenway and Okpsoso |

I expected Ehlers like return when moving Savoie - homiedclown
I know tooth linked this earlier, but with pronman gauging league interest in all sorts of prospects, you have to think that Savoie's value simply wasn't as high as his juniors offensive output suggested.
https://www.nytimes.com/a...t-2024-biggest-questions/
A 'potential' middle six winger for a sure thing third line RFA center is a deal I'd make again tomorrow. |

The inverse here is a guy like Anton Wahlberg, who apparently is valued much higher than his draft billing.

Sure, OK, but if this was the plan he had plenty of Cap space to start this process last offseason with trading prospects. And especially wasting 13mill in space last year. |

I think savoie had a very bumpy last 2 years since he was drafted
- hurt multiple times for decent period of time
- couldn’t go to Rochester
- team Canada world junior team wanted no part of him (twice I think)
- junior career he definitely stacked points but did he actually grow as a player? A 20 year old beating up 16-19 year olds doesn’t tell me anything.
- Rochester playoffs from 2 years ago. Played a game 1/2 and got benched and healthy scratched.
Not saying I think Savoie will be bad. He has just had a very odd developmental path. |

Why not? I think if you're saying "Un-named 9th overall pick" then, ok, but the entire league has D+2 information on Savoie. A lot of information we aren't privy to.

I don’t think that’s all of it but could be some.
Could be seen as not dedicated, going through the motions etc.

the point of the post is that he went from passive, uninspiring garbage to actually giving a (frank), in the second year of "we need to win"

I think Adams saw that the team with all the same pieces was 1 point from a playoff spot and that if it worked. Don’t mess with it. Tinker it.
Obviously massively failed. I also have said that if I hear “veteran leadership” again. I might puke. It’s a cop out for a player to have declining abilities to suck and still play
So I learned something as well |

Then as a Organization you failed and didn't recognize in time that his Value had dropped so drastically. |

Being left off of Canada WJ team two years in a row is eyebrow raising no?
There is something up and as you said we’ll probably never know. |

I don’t think that’s the case. You got a reallly good young player in return. + a prospect that could be a 4th liner some day.
McLeod has elite, best in class, Literally like 1-2 people better speed.
He’s 24 and has from to grow still. |

Nah , he was late 1 time
Nothing to see here, Savoie was our #2 prospect in the system
Why or why would they trade him , waited too long , Adams is balding |

If he was 'that good' then most teams are definitely looking the other way.
Same reason zadorov was shipped out. he had some good ability to be appealing to other teams but was probably always billed as a back half of the defense. pissed a few people off here and, see ya
If Savoie was the next Benson, then being late is not getting you traded.
ROR and Kane had some misadventures and Tim Murray couldn't have given less of a (frank).

OK then you don't wait, especially when they knew last off-season what his tendencies were. Again I don't care about the trade I just hope McLeod works. But in No way do I think it was good asset management. |
