Does it really matter? The trade is made. Hopefully the kid we got helps us in many areas.

Believe who you want to believe. This is a rumor site. Maybe neither is true. Maybe they're both true. People need to stop taking everything they hear as gospel, especially on Twitter. It's a (frank)ing cesspool on there. Everyone is an insider and an expert.

i don't know what to tell ya. Whitney Point is one exit off 81 from Binghamton and is closer than either of those places you named. Maybe look at a map some time.
- Hatboro_Swords

I don’t consider Whitney point Binghamton (born and raised in Johnson city)

Binghamton is itself and Johnson city IMO.

I could stretch and throw in endicott also

It's literally halfway to (frank)ing Cortland and you missed my point: The people in the towns surrounding Binghamton would rather identify with Wuhan than Binghamton, that's what a dump it is. You know what, at least they know Binghamton is a dump and there's a self-deprecating humor there... Lockportians truly love Lockport and think it's great and are genuinely confused when you tell them it isn't, like they can't fathom there's literally a million places out there that are better...

Like a guy has only drank Pepsi his entire life and he's knows there's Coke and Dr. Pepper and Sprite out there but he just truly cannot fathom that they might actually taste better than Pepsi, and tasting them alone would make his head explode, especially since when I was last in Ithaca they told me Dr. Pepper is a woman.

Is the Greek House still open on Main St. in Johnson City? My favorite diner of all-time. Best French fries in the world, there.

I'm curious if the fry cook knows he lives in a total dump of a place, or if he's going to just chug Pepsi in ignorance for the rest of his life? Do the fries taste like desperation?
If they serve Pepsi with fries, does that make him even more of a dummy or is that actually a saving grace for the fry cook's eternal soul?

I actually never got over to Sharkey's when I was there, not a big clams guy lol

Johnson City has it's charm, so does Endicott. I loved Greek House and Shagundas when it was down by the Wal-Mart, they had phenomenal chicken wings, like write home about them type...

Bingo was always and still is a great diner town. The old Park diner, Chris's, Skylark, Greek House, and there's quite a bit of diversity and ethnic food. I used to go to this old Bodega on the West Side run by some Egyptian dudes and they had legit the best subs I have ever had.

A lot of great dive bars in Bingo, too. Like I said, they know what they are, so it's honestly more enjoyable out on the town in Binghamton than it is in Buffalo.

Awfully boring if the reaction to every move is just wait and see.

Hard to determine savoies worth after 3:55 of nhl experience wouldn’t you say?

Guys been injured frequently and apparently has problems off the ice as well

I guess that’s boring

I know Gerbe sugar coats things, but saying Savoie just wanted to be close to home is a load of crap.

All these NHL guys have serious daddy issues and it's starting to get really gross.

I'm assuming Edmon wasn't looking to get rid of McLeod (but they do need to get cap relief) so our offer had to be good for them to do the trade. Also believe this was a player we wanted badly (like when Darcy went after Drury). If we feel trading Savoie was bad management of assets because a top prospect is worth more than an NHL third line player, then would trading a very young NHL 3LW for a very good young NHL 3C be better? I'm sure Edmon would have considered taking Benson.

Yeah, I agree, Savoie probably wanted out. Almost everyone wants out of Buffalo and would like to play near family at home.

Just some posters , cry and cry about wanting to move some assets for an nhl player

Then we make a trade and they cry and cry more

Pick a lane (not you in particular)

Savoie seemed the most nhl ready from what i gathered

High (top 10 pick)
3rd year after being drafted
Possibly a spot open on a weak forward group on a weak franchise
Injuries constantly detailed him

Lance explained it well, it was the injury bug that worried the Sabres .

They also drafted someone 14th at the center position since I had Savoie penciled in.

You had him at doubtful if I remember correctly?

Now he’s a gem lol

But it's ok....I'm a self-depreciating jack-off. And I make great french fries when I'm not actively, you know, jacking off in a self-depreciating manner. Trouble is making good french fries at home takes waaay too much time...gotta cut em, soak em, dry them off, fry once, then fry a second time to get them just right....and duck fat is the absolute bomb for frying in but it's pretty pricey to keep a big stash around the house.

I usually just go to Moor Pat to get good duck-fat fries. Except they always put shaved parmesan cheese on them...who the f said this was a great idea in the first place?

My opinion on Savoie hasn't changed at all. I've been outspoken about his value as a prospect dropping and he's missed his opportunities to play against better competition, but he is still a #9. He's a fun player and I would have looked forward to seeing him when he got his chance.

None of this is the end of the world, they are just losing value on these moves. That's what you do when your job is on the line.

Maybe you don’t know as much as the 31 other gms and savoie’s value has plummeted.

You’ve wanted a trade for years with every post, now they make a trade and you complain more ?

It’s crazy, it’s just your personality to be upset

Savoie does have a huge injury list for a young guy, he’s also small and probably not difficult to play against . I doubt he plays defensive well either.

If you Lindy, you make the upgrade all day , to an actual nhl 3c with cup experience

Very good post

I think you maybe overlooking ruff’s influence on this trade. Of course he wanted a true nhl center with speed and plays good defense .

Gotta give to get, and I liked the idea of Savoie zipping around the ice. Lindy doesn’t like that type of guy , as you can see with the skinner buyout.

I worried about bensons size, speed and defense.
He’s gonna be Lindy’s whipping boy at times.

I am just sick of hearing about all these NHL players wanting to be near family or play close to home... I legitimately never heard that crap in any of the other sports.

My initial reaction was very meh. I don't like Savoie. I never did. But I also know Mcleod was scratched in the finals at one point and he's been kind of invisible down the lineup on a team not exactly known for their depth...

The next day, after just thinking about it, I love the trade. We needed to unload a prospect, and we needed to find a guy like McLeod. He's fast and defensively responsible, and he kills penalties at a high level. Sounds like what we wanted Girgensons to be.

Add in the idea that Savoie wants to play in his "hometown" (He's from the Lockport of Edmonton), was late to practice his in first NHL game after partying the night before, got into a verbal argument with a teammate, gets injured as often as he scores and looks like he'll molest his daughter someday, well, see you (frank)ing later, Matt.

I think we got our new Jochen Hecht. Remember, we traded two 2nd's for Hecht from Edmonton back in the day.

Sorry that my Hockey Team being bad makes me upset and I speak out about it. It's what this site is for. And these upgrades and trades that have happened I asked for years ago when they should have happened. I already said I don't mind McLeod but you used a Asset that was Highly Rated up to a couple months ago.

Why do you think I'm overlooking Lindy?

3C was their number one need, this was never in question and had nothing to do with Lindy.

Benson is one of their best defensive forwards, Lindy is going to love the kid.

Funny all these people running to the defense of this trade when Savoie could have been used on a upgrade at D but oh No we can't use Savoie for that. Or Savoie could have been used to upgrade our Top 6 before, but Oh God we can't use Savoie on that. But know it's all of a sudden alright on a 3C at this point.

Well said

I was a bit surprised at first, because I thought Savoie was/is the closest to playing in the nhl in regards to our prospects.

They picked a new guy, they like him at 14. Savoie became expendable.

Small guy out, big fast guy in
