Sorry that my Hockey Team being bad makes me upset and I speak out about it. It's what this site is for. And these upgrades and trades that have happened I asked for years ago when they should have happened. I already said I don't mind McLeod but you used an Asset that was Highly Rated up to a couple months ago.

I’m just saying that Savoie may not be the asset we all hoped or thought he was/is.

McLeod may also suck as well

And I agree with your asset management approach

But it's ok....I'm a self-depreciating jack-off. And I make great french fries when I'm not actively, you know, jacking off in a self-depreciating manner. Trouble is making good french fries at home takes waaay too much time...gotta cut em, soak em, dry them off, fry once, then fry a second time to get them just right....and duck fat is the absolute bomb for frying in but it's pretty pricey to keep a big stash around the house.

I usually just go to Moor Pat to get good duck-fat fries. Except they always put shaved parmesan cheese on them...who the f said this was a great idea in the first place?

- LandlordTom

The problem is that people read what I say and respond to the part that strikes them personally. Binghamton is a dump. No beating around that bush. The guy cooking fries at a diner, it's not his fault that his country failed him and his fathers lied to him. It's also not his fault he was born in Binghamton. But I can say this: I have never seen a restaurant where the owner was working harder than his workers, and not because his workers were lazy.

Every single time I ever ate at the Greek House, the owner was dropping fries, prepping salads, bussing tables, flipping burgers, prepping diner, always, always helping out his staff and smiling while he did it. And it showed. The food was always great, the service was always above and beyond and seeing the owner of the establishment smiling and treating his workers with respect made me want to eat there even if the food wasn't good.

So here I ask a man whose name is Landlord Tom, are you actually Slumlord Tom? Because I can tell you with absolute certainty, the thing that killed Binghamton wasn't the cigar factories closing, it wasn't the logging industry dying, it wasn't the leather and shoe factories moving to Southeast Asia and it wasn't even IBM abandoning a region where 50,000 people depended on your employment, no, it wasn't Binghamton University being a leftist, communist stronghold in the middle of the 20th century...

The thing that actually killed Binghamton? All the slumlords who bought cheap real estate and rented it out to college students while refusing to do any upkeep and living out of state or down state. And then blaming the blacks and Muslims.

Funny all these people running to the defense of this trade when Savoie could have been used on a upgrade at D but oh No we can't use Savoie for that. Or Savoie could have been used to upgrade our Top 6 before, but Oh God we can't use Savoie on that. But know it's all of a sudden alright on a 3C at this point.
- Buff36

If they traded a 2nd +, instead of getting Malenstyn, it would have been appropriate value and good work.

Kinda really needed a vet 3c since we moved mitts for a top 4 defender

I am just sick of hearing about all these NHL players wanting to be near family or play close to home... I legitimately never heard that crap in any of the other sports.

My initial reaction was very meh. I don't like Savoie. I never did. But I also know Mcleod was scratched in the finals at one point and he's been kind of invisible down the lineup on a team not exactly known for their depth...

The next day, after just thinking about it, I love the trade. We needed to unload a prospect, and we needed to find a guy like McLeod. He's fast and defensively responsible, and he kills penalties at a high level. Sounds like what we wanted Girgensons to be.

Add in the idea that Savoie wants to play in his "hometown" (He's from the Lockport of Edmonton), was late to practice his in first NHL game after partying the night before, got into a verbal argument with a teammate, gets injured as often as he scores and looks like he'll molest his daughter someday, well, see you (frank)ing later, Matt.

I think we got our new Jochen Hecht. Remember, we traded two 2nd's for Hecht from Edmonton back in the day.

- Jet Jaguar BD

I like all of this, but I don't think McLoud was scratched in the finals, but rather Edm went with a very short bench for half the game. I like the player, for sure.

I really hope it works Boss and I do think McLeod will fit here nicely. Kinda want to see him at LW with Cozens and that passing ability he had/has. Even with Kulich if Kulich takes that step. McLeod using that speed on retrieval hitting Kulich coming in with that wrist shot could be fun to watch. I was just surprised it took Savoie! It's over and let's roll

The malenstyn pick was top5 gm type move.

Move down and get someone you like 3 picks later.
Move that new asset immediately, for an nhl player.

It’s hard to fault Adams on that acquisition, although you did

Yes, although if I’m not mistaken, Clifton was a healthy scratch for the bruins in the playoffs, just prior to the Sabres signing him.

Absolutely

Do you think kulich is now the number 1 prospect / nhl ready guy in our system?

36...he was used to upgrade the defensive side of the game, just not on the blue line. The bottom 6 forwards last year were so bad defensively, they had to find someone to steady that, and they did.

The one missing thing from all of this offseason is the Sabres actually seem like they have an identity and are building their team as such

Colton got the 37th pick in last year's Draft, in No universe is Beck worth the 42nd pick in a NHL Draft.

Yes because Adams did a horrible job last off-season fixing the problem. It is what it is, hope it works.

Fine for a good NHL player. I don’t see it. He’s going to provide average defense from the 4th line, and for being billed as a good PKer, he hasn’t quite showed it. He’s fast. Thats the redeeming quality. But unlike McLeod doesn’t really do anything with it. He got his first full NHL season on an Alex Ovie team with no depth at age 25. Color me skeptical that he’s anything more than a 12th forward, or more likely someone who is a tweener. This was a bad use of assets. Savoie for McLeod is a value loss, but net team gain.

Nothing he can do about last off season now though. He knows he screwed them big time and is working to fix a lot of holes.

I will say this, if he gets a top 6 forward (not Zucker) he gets a B+ this offseason. Right not its like a C, C-.

I would have liked something done on the blue line and a better backup to UPL (I want Levi in Rochester) and then it would have been an A+

Wow, BD, lots to unpack there. In 2000 I bought a big Buffalo double...2 apts with 4 bedrooms in each. I was newly single and lived downstairs and my first bunch of tennants was 4 female UB students, aged 19-21. They were amazing, they were respectful, and I was a very good landlordt Tom...After a while they got a fifth single girl to live with them...shortly after that I met my (now wife) who was 22 and she came on board with me. So I was the 33 year-old male figure surrounded by 6 young, nubile women. Goo times....I mean good times.

I was a great landlord, as long as I lived in the building. Within 2 years of moving out of that house, I sold it because I hated being an off-site landlord Tom. Tennants taking liberties with the property, doing crap that the rental agreements strictly forbid (no dogs allowed, but one tenant got a friggin rottweiler puppy and tried hiding it), one girl got pregnant and thought using paper towels instead of tp was a good idea until the toilet blew up and she screamed that it was MY fault, crap like that. Yeah, in my case it was the tenants that ruined a very good thing, not the other way around.

Savoie is now the Oiler's highly rated asset. What Sabre player (a NHL roster player) would you be willing to trade to get Savoie back? That will tell you what he was worth to us right now.

He had 3 big needs this offseason (3C, RD, top 6) and filled one, weakly filled a 2nd (if you're generous). C- sounds right.

Not giving much credit for the 4th line. Looks fine and all, but it's a 4th line of budget guys.

I'm assuming Edmon wasn't looking to get rid of McLeod (but they do need to get cap relief) so our offer had to be good for them to do the trade. Also believe this was a player we wanted badly (like when Darcy went after Drury). If we feel trading Savoie was bad management of assets because a top prospect is worth more than an NHL third line player, then would trading a very young NHL 3LW for a very good young NHL 3C be better? I'm sure Edmon would have considered taking Benson.
- BuffaloHerd

Edmonton must really like Savoie bc this isn't a move a win-now team usually makes. They're worse on paper today

My guess is pick #14 was dangled instead of Savoie

Talks apparently started at the draft

Sabres may have had a choice and gave savoie imo

Which is literally what every single landlord says.

Here's one that'll blow your mind: Your tenants pay your bills, therefore, you rely on them more than they rely on you. No one who ever needed a house built a house to then let someone else live in it... However, people have their houses taken from them and are forced to rely on other people's houses and what a wonderful system we've created?

The sense of ownership that Americans have is something I will never get used to. On a stolen land, so many people own so many things and it really was a game of who got here first, yet somehow primitive accumulation of wealth is something I should have worked really hard for during my current life?

I know you didn't earn what you have simply from the way you talk. I mean here you are bragging about banging your tenants. Bragging about taking advantage of women a decade younger than you...

Absolutely gross. And you're the guy who brags about having a younger girlfriend and poop, too, right? Good god. No one envy's you, my man. No one.
