Beck had 21 points last year
Doubt that 2nd round pick gets anywhere near that total for his career in the nhl
Guys a plugger , zem replacement - Boss34
Eric Robinson had 24 points 2 years ago. Cleared waivers and got dealt for future considerations last year.
Tyson Jost had 22 for the Sabres in 59 games as a waiver claim. |

He had 3 big needs this offseason (3C, RD, top 6) and filled one, weakly filled a 2nd (if you're generous). C- sounds right.
Not giving much credit for the 4th line. Looks fine and all, but it's a 4th line of budget guys. - Lunaion
It is a completely different 4th line all with the same DNA. Fast and gritty, something this team lacked.
Again, this has Lindy's fingerprints all over it.

My guess is pick #14 was dangled instead of Savoie
Talks apparently started at the draft
Sabres may have had a choice and gave savoie imo - Boss34
My guess is this deal was not at the top of their list.

Edmonton must really like Savoie bc this isn't a move a win-now team usually makes. They're worse on paper today - Hank Balling
From Edmonton's perspective, how does this trade make sense? You basically have said without saying that you believe this 20 year old can jump into an NHL role right away on a team that was 1 win away from a championship...
They added more scoring but got worse defensively. This was done strictly as a cap casualty, imo. They want Draisaitl extended and needed an extra $4 million to get it done... Especially since McDavid probably walks or gets traded when his contract is up.
If that isn't it... Then I can't figure it out. I personally would have offloaded RNH, bringing in a little more value and keeping my proven defensive forward who is entering his prime...
Again, for a team 1 win away from a championship, they haven't gotten closer with this trade. I like the Skinner add. Love it. Bringing back Henrique, keeping RNH and trading McLeod? Yeah I don't know what they're doing there. |

It's fine, just saying a 4th line doesn't impact my grade much.

Which is why it blows my mind that
1.) Krebs can't score more than 26 points with all his "elite playmaking skills"
2.) People think Krebs has any upside when Eric Robinson and Tyson Jost can put up 20+ off the waiver wire. |

The malenstyn pick was top5 gm type move.
Move down and get someone you like 3 picks later.
Move that new asset immediately, for an nhl player.
Itβs hard to fault Adams on that acquisition, although you did - Boss34
This, completely. The criticism about Adams in this whole area is a moving target. Is a second a lot for the player? Yeah, probably too much. But the other side of it is that he created the asset (probably for this express purpose) and probably still got the guy he wanted in the first round (or was comfortable with a few players).
Yes, it was a 2nd round pick - that is what trips people up. But because the cupboard is full, he wouldn't do that for the purpose of getting more assets because we can only sign so many of them to contracts. He did it with this trade in mind. That is some excellent work there.

(shrug) maybe? That still doesn't change the point. I am not saying that it is house money because it was still a second round pick. But he did manufacture the asset. |

I had never heard the name Blake Malenstyn before the trade. (I bet most people are in that boat). Had Hudson Fasching flashbacks.
I knew Jost and Robinson. They filled needs and helped the team, which was sad for free acquisitions.

I do this in NHL GM mode all the time. I actually do it multiple times. Top-10 pick but not a top-3 or even top-5? Trade back a few spots and get a free 2nd. Don't like what's on the board? /insert goofy pic I'll fukin' do it again
Especially if I like the players taken between picks 30-100 more than the players at picks 10-30.
I then use those extra 2nds to overpay for the players I specifically want. Actually he is running the team exactly how I do in Be A GM Mode. But I still blow in that game and rely on my created player to score 60/60 every season to crack the playoffs. And last I checked, Adams was a 15 point guy. |

I think ultimately what this will come down to is something we talked two weeks ago. We think Adams and staff have done a good job at drafting (or at least as much as we can grade them on now). The fear is the pro scouting - the guys that signed in the last couple of years left a lot to be desired. If they felt that strongly about that guy, fine, go out and get him with a second. If he doesn't work out then this might be another indicator that the pro scouts aren't up to snuff. He did insinuate that this trade was something that came from the scouts and not the data guys. |

Which is literally what every single landlord says.
Here's one that'll blow your mind: Your tenants pay your bills, therefore, you rely on them more than they rely on you. No one who ever needed a house built a house to then let someone else live in it... However, people have their houses taken from them and are forced to rely on other people's houses and what a wonderful system we've created?
The sense of ownership that Americans have is something I will never get used to. On a stolen land, so many people own so many things and it really was a game of who got here first, yet somehow primitive accumulation of wealth is something I should have worked really hard for during my current life?
I know you didn't earn what you have simply from the way you talk. I mean here you are bragging about banging your tenants. Bragging about taking advantage of women a decade younger than you...
Absolutely gross. And you're the guy who brags about having a younger girlfriend and poop, too, right? Good god. No one envy's you, my man. No one. - Jet Jaguar BD
Me, I've been working since I was 15. I never banged any of my tenants. Like I said, they were respectful and I was a very good, thoughtful landlord. Those tenants gave me my nickname, Landlord Tom (LT), and they even started an annual holiday, Landlord Appreciation Day, during which they bought me pizza and gave me silly small gifts throughout the day...but they did that AFTER I was attentative to every single thing that occurred in that house for the first year, AND after I instituted Tenant Appreciation Day, during which I took them all out to dinner and gave them all a little break on that month's rent because I knew they were poor students. My girlfriend/wife was 22, not f'ing sixteen when we met, you idiot. This September we will be celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. I related my experience as just that...my experience...not some half-baked treatise on the state of America.
If you wanna talk about indigenous, hard-luck people who REALLY got the short end of the stick, I'll tell you about my sister who is 100% Cayugan Native American AND a lesbian. She was adopted by our parents at age 1, and most folks don't know the US had an actual policy/program to eilminate Native cultures on the books for decades by making life miserable for Indians (duh, no brainer there), then coercing young women to give up their babies for adoption (because their lives were miserable) but the white families, like ours, were forbidden to know the baby's heritage. Kids that don't get adopted end up in one of those boarding home/concentration camps, the kind they are now finding mass graves attached to them. She only found her heritage 6 years ago after our Mom died but she is now fully a Cayugan. Her biological Mom, after giving her child up to Whitey, killed herself rather than go back to that reservation. And try being gay in the 1970s...one little slip and you're getting the crap beat out of you at school, or your parents are kicking you into the streets (not ours. we had great parents).
Please don't talk any more, you're making yourself sound like a full-on tool. I will respectfully not say another word to you either, you f'ing moron, unless it's got to do with hockey. |

I didn't say crap to you today, Slumlord Tom. You butted in because I said Binghamton is a dump. It is. I still love Binghamton in ways that I don't love Buffalo, and I still think fondly of Binghamton in a nostalgic way that I don't about a lot of other things.

36...he was used to upgrade the defensive side of the game, just not on the blue line. The bottom 6 forwards last year were so bad defensively, they had to find someone to steady that, and they did.
The one missing thing from all of this offseason is the Sabres actually seem like they have an identity and are building their team as such - Stripes77
Bingo!
I said this 2 or 3 offseasons ago. First Step in Building an organization is identify what you are/want to be, then getting employees who emulate that...or teach them to be it.
I said during the playoffs that I love watching Panthers full court press and 200' game as a unit.
I like seeing that Kevo finally gets it and is aggressively trying to build it.
Now, who is the guy who embodies it and demands it from his teammates? That has now become the single biggest issue to me. I've said it before, and still believe it...he isn't on this team...yet. Furthermore, the names discused for the Top 6 addition I don't believe are it. Adams could be searching for awhile to find him.

Wow, BD, lots to unpack there. In 2000 I bought a big Buffalo double...2 apts with 4 bedrooms in each. I was newly single and lived downstairs and my first bunch of tennants was 4 female UB students, aged 19-21. They were amazing, they were respectful, and I was a very good landlordt Tom...After a while they got a fifth single girl to live with them...shortly after that I met my (now wife) who was 22 and she came on board with me. So I was the 33 year-old male figure surrounded by 6 young, nubile women. Goo times....I mean good times.
I was a great landlord, as long as I lived in the building. Within 2 years of moving out of that house, I sold it because I hated being an off-site landlord Tom. Tennants taking liberties with the property, doing crap that the rental agreements strictly forbid (no dogs allowed, but one tenant got a friggin rottweiler puppy and tried hiding it), one girl got pregnant and thought using paper towels instead of tp was a good idea until the toilet blew up and she screamed that it was MY fault, crap like that. Yeah, in my case it was the tenants that ruined a very good thing, not the other way around. - LandlordTom
I can support this.
I had a cottage on Conesus Lake, I spent a full year rennovating the house myself, except drywall finishing (hate that GD job)...all new walls, insulation, ele tric, plumbing, windows, and a hot water boiler/radiator system installed. It was friggin beautiful. My family used it as a cottage during the summer and I rented it during the winter ... I figured if something went wrong, the tenant would call immediately...rather than going g down to see a closed up cottage once every two weeks to ensure all was good.
The stupid (frank)ing tenant decided she would go on vacation for 10 days and turned off the boiler in January! $12,000 repair bill later, she moved back in for remaining 3 months of the lease...and brought in a cat, which was explicitly forbidden in the lease (bold print, and verbal discussion) [I'm severally allergic to cats]..she brought one In who then destroyed a couch and chair from scratching...then bolted early and didn't pay the last month's rent.
Renters can be fvcking asshats, they generally don't give a poop.
