The "price" paid is purely speculative, isn't it?
- Powerslave

Not really. Savoie had value and players of his draft status and performance have garnered bigger returns in the past. As an example, the Sabres will trade Savoie for McLeod. The Knights traded Brannstrom for Stone. Unfortunately, our return seems amazingly lop sided when comparing to like trades.

Is it that crazy to think Adams and other GMs viewed Savoie as the lesser prospect? I guess I don’t think it is. Would it have been great to pull a solid 3C option for a second instead of a plunk 13 F in Beck? Sure. All trades are not created equal and all times of trades bring different values.
- SDSabre

Really in a couple months he fell that low, he was untradeable last off-season to many on here.

As was said, who is tough on this team? If Quinn or Benson get annihilated who is fighting Tkachuk? Who is fighting Tom Wilson?

I don't think they answered half of these things you list, but I'm very curious how that can be a justifiable statement. Beck, Laughdirty and NAK aren't dropping mittens.

So with what the Sabres have done, what kind of Conversations are we supposed to be having.

No, because Rosen was never projected to be a Top 3 pick or Top line player.
- Buff36

Ok, interesting. Savoie probably has a higher ceiling, and I would think that Rosen has a higher floor and might even be more likely to play more games in the league.

It is a seller's market right now. Adams made this worse by making this the time to shop instead of the past - we all agree on that. Does Savoie have a chance to be a top line player? A chance, sure. But come on, he is a middle 6 guy, and probably on the wing. I also had him as the 5th guy on the list of guys I wouldn't want to move, a notch ahead of Rosen.

So at that point, what do you do if you are Adams? Hang out until someone agrees to take your 6th best prospect (who might actually slot better on your team) instead of the 5th best for a guy that you like as 3C? He waited several days after free agency opened, so he had to have an idea of what the prices were. Could he afford to risk waiting?

Here is a list of best 20 year old seasons in WHL history. Most are older years, but how many of these names do you even know?

Yes because talking the value of the Savoie trade means you hate the offseason. Funny Sh!t coming from someone who was ripping Adams apart awhile back.

His value is what the market says it is.

And such, we have been presented with his value in real time.

Think cong posted it yesterday on how his particular perceived value deteriorated year over year from the instant he was drafted. Some guys it goes up. Some go down.

We also got a 2019 4th overall for a 2017 8th overall.

What year is this? Spoiler alert: Tkachuk and Wilson don't want to fight either. Tough teams are the ones that play through their garbage.

See how everyone is jumping on Quinn because he thinks it was a Overpayment. Just because the Sabres needed a 3C, doesn't make it not a Overpayment. We got a piece that will hopefully help us, but it shouldn't have taken Savoie.

I've heard no one complain about the players they acquired, just the trade cost of 2 guys. Even the biggest KA die hards know they overpaid.

Do bottom half additions fix everything? That seems like a different question entirely.

I ripped him because he deserved it. I also stated many times, I was waiting for the week to close out. And he's still not done in my opinion.

But the whining is absolutely out of control here, considering the areas he actually addressed.

If we're going to continue to whine about the lack of a top 6 trade, fine. He didn't do his job as of this minute.

But the job he did do up to this point to address real needs was actually decent.

That or the other prospects have taken off? I’ve seen you rave about Rosen’s 200 foot game. Kulich’s offense is on par with Savoie’s. Wahlberg is something different than both of those guys. After that, you start to get into guys that wouldn’t have landed McLoed.

Hmmm, ok. Again, part of this is his own doing, and I get that. But geez, the guy saw the market and then made his moves. I get the sentiment, but at the same time, people here were losing their minds on June 28th when he hadn't made moves. I was getting killed for saying "wait until july 2nd to start grading him", but here we are having people argue that he should have waited it out deep into the summer.
