All of the unsigned D prospects (8) have been drafted the past two years. Beyond that, it's Novikov, Komarov, Power and Johnson since 2019.

2019-2022, 4 years, 4 prospects have been signed to play D. Mats "Momma" Lindrgren and Albert Lyckasen washed out.

Six defensemen, 4 years. 2018 was all defense except Pekar. Was a brutal draft beyond Samuelsson.

Wasn't Lindgren more of a numbers thing? He really stood out in prospect camp last year. Certainly better than guys like Nadeau.

Agreed. As of right now, Savoie's success or failure is irrelevant to the Sabres. All that matters is McLeod's and Tullio's success for the Sabres.
- TC4145

I agree with this.

Savoie is gone. Move on.

All we know is that he had a funky developmental path and he plateaued in juniors points and production wise at 20 years old.

quick gander on elite prospects shows that, for an offensive defenseman, his game stagnated against young competition. you sign good players no matter what.

I think everyone agrees these are moves that should have been made 12 months ago and they now want 1 or 2 bigger moves before they open up camp this fall

I also think many think they paid more for McLeod and Malenstyn but at the end of the day, unless Savoie is an all star, I doubt people will care a few years from now on those trades

my 2 cents of course

Small for a defenseman and regressed last year. He went undrafted as an overaged and that probably says something

Maybe the polite way to put this is they bought high and sold low.

I'm surprised how ardent a few are defending the value of this trade. I expected more of "it's OK to overpay".

- Lunaion

The Sabres needed a 3C

They traded an injury prone prospect for 2 guys.

Maybe it’s a slight overpayment , but the Sabres needed to fill a position and did.

Kinda Funny how a Few on here said stuff last off-season and it basically came true. And took a lot of sh!t for it, and know because Adams finally made some moves that should have already been done, or doesn’t agree on the value of the McLeod trade again there gonna here about it. Fantastic he fixed the Bottom 6, but until anything is proven on the Ice and this Team isn't picking top 16, there's No free passes.

Isn't Eichel the ultimate sell low trade?

The top 6 killed this team last year, not the bottom 6. Right now, they are betting everything on Lindy figuring that out.

- Lunaion

Doesn’t Alex tuch have almost as many points as Eichel since the trade?

Sure, Krebs sucks

I think it's more than slight. Pretty sure I'm in the majority here, especially when you look outside the Sabre bubble.

Don't know why anyone is bothered by this. Haven't seen anyone say anything negative about McLeod.

Agreed

Rolling it back didn’t work out, especially for the so called “captains”

They gave it a shot after being 1 point out of a playoff spot

I’d be fine with another move or 2, but doubt it happens . Zucker is your big splash off season guy.

Sabres are taking a beating on the Savoie trade nationally

The thing is, we should understand there’s always a buffatax when making moves .

I’m looking at his injuries being the reason for trading him (per lance). And that we have other small forwards in the system. Add that to off ice issue and a new coaching staff that likes defense .

The trade makes sense , especially after picking his replacement in the draft last week

Why would there be a tax when trading? That is illogical. I get it when there are NTCs (which might be what you meant), but every other move should be available to us.

Sabres are forced into paying more in a trade, because they can’t sign free agents and/or no trade guys .

They still need to form a team with less options on building that team, thus forcing our price up for the available players imo

Less supply same demand

This is still illogical.

Lets take the Zegras possible trade. Anaheim is going to take the offers and pick the best one. If ours is the best one, we win. I mean, what else is there? "Buffalo has the best offer, but they have problems signing free agents. I am going to ask for even more from them....". That is absurd. They have leverage by being able to say "no", but they lose that leverage if Buffalo goes in a different direction (and have to accept a lesser package).

This is almost as absurd as some people speculating two weeks ago that Adams isn't making deals because other GMs don't like him. Oh how far we've come....

Yeah, that’s clear and understandable

I base my opinions on reality that buffalo business includes a tax.

if team x from the west wants to trade a player to the east

they move him for their best offer

doesn't matter if it's the rangers, bolts, or sabres

a draft pick going back to that team is probably worth more if it is the sabres than the rangers or bolts however

I don't understand the logic. Why would a team take less than the best offer they can get?

Even the in-division argument is overrated, imo.
