This is still illogical.

Lets take the Zegras possible trade. Anaheim is going to take the offers and pick the best one. If ours is the best one, we win. I mean, what else is there? "Buffalo has the best offer, but they have problems signing free agents. I am going to ask for even more from them....". That is absurd. They have leverage by being able to say "no", but they lose that leverage if Buffalo goes in a different direction (and have to accept a lesser package).

This is almost as absurd as some people speculating two weeks ago that Adams isn't making deals because other GMs don't like him. Oh how far we've come....

- Slump Buster

Let’s take the trade that happened , not a fictional trade.

Sabres tried hard to get a 3c trade at the draft
Sabres tried hard to get a 3c via free agency
Sabres still needed a 3c

The demand was still there, the supply was less

The price was higher

Sabres overpaid based on needing a 3c for next season

if team x from the west wants to trade a player to the east

they move him for their best offer

doesn't matter if it's the rangers, bolts, or sabres

a draft pick going back to that team is probably worth more if it is the sabres than the rangers or bolts however

Why did Ottawa want more from Buffalo then from other teams for chicken man supposedly?

I don't understand the logic. Why would a team take less than the best offer they can get?

Even the in-division argument is overrated, imo.

- Lunaion

Of course a team is going to take the best offer most times, but we traded out of extreme necessity, which cost more imo

Seems like Adams was forced into paying more

Isn't that just how trades work? Try to get Buffalo to top the best offer on the table?

This is a good post. Slumps post was also good. I guess the difference is whether there is a bidding war for a player. When Sabres are the only team interested, other teams can definitely ask more out of them because the other team knows the short comings for the Sabres to acquire players using other avenues. When there is a bidding war, then the team trading the player will take the best offer. Next thing you know Elaine has to pay $17,000 for JFK's golf clubs for Peterman in order to outbid Sue Ellen Mitschke.

Why was that news, if every trade is the same?

That specific trade was beat to death around here.

Careful, suggesting this was a desperate move will get you in trouble.

I doubt the sabres were in on him when the sens traded him to the caps, if they were, sens would want more for being a division rival

I do not for a second believe the sabres had to give the yotes more for the chicken man than the sens did

chicken man had no clauses so the yotes, since shipping him our east, would simply move him for the best offer in which case adams was probably trying to lowball them and now he is desperate and probably over offers

Let’s be honest , it was a kinda desperate move

Some of which is based on a buffatax / lack of interest in playing/ living in Buffalo

The bald guy needed to get to Bemus point by mid july and ran out of options , so they traded a guy they deemed injury prone (per lance)

if your top 4 consists of dahlin, power, samuelsson and byram in some form of 2 pairs

is mcnabb a viable option to trade for and play with either clifton or joker?

good plan b for if/when samuelsson gets hurt as well

1 year left 2.85 cap hit

I give Gerbe's word more weight on this one than Lance and believe the reports that they were shopping him all summer.

Definitely put themselves in a position of weakness. Imagine a few other 3C options fell through by that point.

side note, bought this smoker last week and it arrived today

took 20 minutes to assemble it and perhaps the best chicken I have ever had and was cooked in 2 and a half hours

used apple wood flavor

making ribs and pulled pork this weekend, takes longer to smoke those

McLeod seems like a good option, I’m hoping he has some upside with more ice time.

The trade could hurt the franchise long term, but should improve the team the next 2 years

when the oilers got henrique to sign for 2 more years, they were able to move him for savoie

The Stefon Diggs trade was reportedly viewed as “addition by subtraction” for the Bills by several NFL scouts.

“The guy is and always will be a diva. He’s selfish. He’s lost a half-step, and Josh froze him out in the second half of the season.”

Some NFL scouts reportedly believe Keon Coleman (Diggs’ replacement) could have a “DK Metcalf type impact” in his rookie season.

Stefon Diggs has been a PROBLEM everywhere he’s been 😳

- Buff36

it has a dial not an exact setting for specific temp

so it wobbled a bit between 250 and 275 but that did not matter

every bit as good as any bbq joint down here so looks like I am smoking chicken 2 times a week now

this weekend I have the ribs, boston butt and london broil to try

If this is Adams panicking I hope he’s scared for the rest of his time as GM
