Yeah, with no top 6 forward added. You really need Kulich, Ostlund, or Benson to really be very good. At minimum, 50 points. Since that is low end top 6 point totals.

That’s a lot of pressure for a rookie

- Sabretooth9

I think Benson can do that. He got 30 points as a young 18 yr old with mostly shlt linemates. Put him on line 2 with Cozens and Quinn and he can hit 50. Small sample size, but when he played up in the last 7 games, he got 7 points. The kids got it.

In saying that, I'd prefer for the Sabres to get Ehlers, Zegras, Farabee or Konectny and let Benson play with McLeod

Did you watch Kyle Okposo with the panthers? He was completely out of place and looked lost due to being so slow.

So you still need to be fast in order to play with speed and pace.

Reinhart people still think is slow. I don’t think people realize how much better of a skater he is vs when he was in Buffalo. He plays a lot faster and with more speed.

- Sabretooth9

Whatever lol okposo played in 6 of the 7 finals games and won

Florida isn't filled with burners you can give it up or change your narrative to pace whatever you want to do

You claimed Edmonton was slow when they were down 3-0 but again, far from the truth

Danny did trade for and resigned Erik Johnson to be a “veteran leader.”

I would say that’s old school

The new school NHL gms I would say are

The panthers gm zito: Built a team on trades which isn’t normal but worked great. Not afraid to trade good players.

Hurricanes Gm that left: drafted very well and then made some decent trades for Brett burns, patcheretty, and the pens winger.

Vegas and Tampa They you every ounce of salary cap space and even go over it. The NHL doesn’t fine you for doing that or anything.

Not afraid to use draft picks. Not afraid to dump off players off to open up cap space

A gm finding a 3rd party team to hold salary if needed.

Heck Chris Drury brought in 4 new pieces last year and then traded them away because it didn’t work.

How about a GM that knows a 3rd round pick has 33% chance of ever playing an nhl game.

Find a gm that offer sheets a player they want

Instead Gms politely stay away. So stupid.

Etc. you get my point

Yup he’s stinks. His analytics stink. But thank god he’s a veteran leader that won a cup.

So bad.

McLeod is the 2nd fastest skater in the world, is a very underrated playmaker and plays a 200 ft game

Benson is a bltch of a forechecker, goes to the net, is a natural goal scorer and plays a 200 ft game.

The guy we traded a 2nd for is very fast, is a bltch to play against and would protect McLeod and Benson.

Would seem to me to be a really good 3rd line

Congrats. He played 6 out of 7 games and sucked. The panthers played their 4th line very sparingly.

You obviously didn’t watch.

And yes besides mcdavid. Please look at the oilers roster. It’s so bad.

Benson was only 18. That makes a huge difference. He can grow. He’s a good skater as well.

Just needs to build strength.

At the time of the draft. Yes, I think we all thought that was an overpayment by Adams.

But think about this….. the value of a 2nd round pick at the draft was next to nothing.

The sharks got a 2nd + cap dump for futures. (I think they did that twice)

So the value of a 2nd was pretty low
