If Colton was still available, would you take a shot ?

IMO that ship is in dry dock now with McLeod.
I don't see a Top 6 player added this season, and have laid out what my admittedly dirty crystal ball is projecting.

The fun part is, what if by some chance a suddenly available 1C (ala Eichel) becomes available, say in '25-'26. (Draisaitl ?)

But, I think initially you will see:
'24-'25:
JJP - Tage - Tuch
Benson - Cozens - Quinn
Zucker - McLeod - Greenway
Beck - Lafferty - NAK
Krebs

Kulich and Rosen bake one more year in the A, for different reasons.

Greenway is a TDL candidate given expiring contract. Somebody will want a big body depth piece. That allows Krebs, Kulich & Rosen to compete for his spot.

'25-'26:
Zucker is a 1 year piece that is replaced by Rosen.
Kulich could be a replacement for one of JJP or Quinn, given contract /Cap demands, with possible roster as follows:

JJP - Tage - Tuch
Benson - Cozens - Kulich
Krebs - McLeod - Rosen
Melanstyn - Lafferty - Whalberg/Kozak

Was fun to think it through a bit.

Very True, I was told the Sabres and Philly where working a deal, something happened that made Danny change his mind. Don't know if it was for Konecny, but the trade back by Adams could have had something to do with it.

Yeah, I was just thinking McLeod at LW with Cozens if Colton was brought in.

I'm a bit surprised by the desire to jettison TK. Is that a very common thought in Philly?
If so, is it Contract $$$ demand, Contract Term/projected production decline over Term, a combination, or other reasons?

Interested in your thoughts.

In Bill’s blog nearly all of us want him traded. We want a rebuild, we want to tank hard this year and do what it takes to add a couple real pieces to michkov. The flyers are deepest organizationally on the wing, RW in particular. We don’t want to pay a premium for TK years/salary and be saddled with another 30+ year old declining player when we’re ready to make noise. We are already saddled with couturier who has back issues for another 6 years on a big contract.

TK is a very good player. He’s worthy of a $8 mil/year long term contract but the timeline and the flyers needs don’t match up.

All that being said, we expect him to be here on a new deal because the flyers won’t rebuild.

Your average flyer fan loves him and would want him back at near any cost.

The 11th pick. Danny wanted it.

Adams traded back to 14

And Danny was livid when Adams called back

We don’t know what Danny is doing. He’s giving off major vibes of what hextall did. Acquiring some picks and resigning and refusing to trade vets that need to be offloaded

I think we match up well as Trade Partners, have a young piece or 2 that could fit your Timeline better.

Utah just traded for sergachev and marino and still have 15m in cap space. Doesn't make sense.

They actually have as much as $23M in cap space, if they want to go that far, due to Shea Weber's contract.

Could be, but that supposed Winnipeg Deal was on the Table almost the same time as that trade back. Winnipeg was alright with it because they were getting one of those 2nds anyway. Funny how Winnipeg went and got RFA Coghlan RD from Carolina

Love TK and would take him on a 4 or 5 x $8.0m-$8.5m-ish deal.
He is Skinner in the out years of a long term contract, so that would be my limit.l

Contract value s/b based on future production projections, not past performance.
His game more likely declines in that age 32 or so year...let some one else address that problem...or structure the deal so it is BO friendly in year 6.

Sounds like Winnipeg was playing around a bit with Ehlers from what 39 posted! Adams mantra of Wanting To Be In Buffalo hurts the Sabres, but did Winnipeg F@ck Adams and screw up 2 deals for him.

The jets did this last offseason with helleybuck and 1 other player.

So possible.

Farbee for the Sabres makes the most sense. From a contract POV. He’s locked in at 5 mill with term

Necas TK Ehlers obviously will make more than 5

Been reading up on McLeod a bit, kid has Offensive upside, got locked in where he was because of Edmonton's depth. Really good playmaker coming up, could dish the puck. His speed could be deadly on puck retrieval in the Ozone, gotta give him a shooter to work with.

Ya, was going to include Ehler's, but figured snarky comments how their games are different.. so left it out.

I like that we don't have too many protection clauses and they are all modified not full. Good job so far.

Greenway, Rosen and Johnson for Farabee. I would do that.

Yeah based on what I’ve read is that he put up all his points with draistal.

I would still plant him on the 3rd line.

The top 6 forward is 100% still needed

I am not a big fan of forcing players to play roles they aren’t built for aka greenway last year
