I am certainly not about playing Trouba 25 minutes a game. But and I’m just playing devils advocate here, if he was playing 3rd pair minutes, he brings a much needed edge on the blue line.
I am not advocating for a goon type player, but I am pretty tired of seeing players take runs at Dahlin, meaning Cozens and Tuch having to be the guys who have to drop the gloves just to send the message that we will fight back. The Sabres teams of the last 2-3 years have been so soft. Like it or not but it is still part of the game.
We brought in some team speed and grit, but I think there is some toughness lacking on the blue line when Clifton being all 5’10 180 pounds is our most “physical” defensemen.
Trouba with 30% retained and a pick for Joker is something I would heavily consider. - Stripes77
There's a real awkwardness to their D comps. I can't imagine they want an RD/RD 3rd pair, with guys with no experience playing opposite side. Joker is bad with Clifton, Power, and Byram.
I'd rather have Trouba than Joker, but you're left with a similar issue. I'd think they'd want him on their 2nd pair....if they did it.

Samuelsson should not be ceding minutes to trouba, ever. - TheSabresTaco
DIdnt say he should but Until he can play more than 50 games a year he should be. |

This is my thinking. A retained Trouba plus a sweetener is worth having a serious conversation about. - Stripes77
Long as they add a player to the org that they don't have. Think Othmann is that. But they need to be sure he's not going to screw up the cap next year for resignings and improvements |

They're running back the D core like they ran back the F core last year. It's bad form and they needed to swap joker out with a different flavored player |

Agreed. The forward group makes sense and you can see how it fits together. Don't know if it will score enough, but it fits. Clifton and Joker both look like 3RD, and I don't see how that fits. I assume they tried to move Joker and found nothing.

I agree with everything you're saying, but I believe NYR mainly wants to trade him to rid themselves of his cap hit. Retaining Cap salary and taking on Joker's cap hit probably not what they want. I think they want to use his cap hit for resigning a couple of their RFAs. |

Well stated. I'm now to the point where I like that big trade that we need to make be for Rasmus Andersson. I'm OK with using Samuelsson as part of the package, because we have more than enough good LD. Would Samuelsson, Krebs, and Rosen be something Calgary might consider? |

I'm not a big fan of the player. He's fine, I was a much bigger fan of a John Marino.
I'd be a massive fan of like, joker Krebs 1 kulich for gudas and zegras. |

Well where do you slot that money. Your either trying for a top 6 with Term or you can sign or do you improve your D. Either way Cap is being eaten depending on which way you go. |

I think the reference was relative to NYR that needs the cap relief for next year because of what Igor's next contract will be. I guess that why Joker is being offered because he's only for a year. NYR may not want Trouba's retained money for next year (when a new contract for Igor kicks in). |

Yeah, I was saying it really shouldn't matter for the Sabres, they were obviously slotting Cap space for someone else. Unless it was a 1yr deal it would effect Next years Cap anyway. |

I'm wondering if Duck's are taking a page from Jets, and are only looking to trade Zegras if someone makes an offer they can't refuse. |

A Top 4 D is the need, more specifically a partner for Power on P2.
Power played 19:27 ATOI at ES
Trouba player 18:10 at ES, and 2.55 on PK.
If the goal is to reduce Trouba's ES minutes by 3:00, then he would play about 15:00 a night, which is P3 time and presumptive playing those 15 as sheltered. That means you are taking those sheltered minutes away from current P3 guys...now subjecting them to being exposed.
If the need is for a true Top 4, then go and get a Top 4.
Anderson anybody?
Yes, the Top 4 will be expensive. It is why having young guys on ELC's are critical in the future.

Probably some political nonsense that stripes had to scrub.
Guess we are back here for now. Any new rumblings with the Sabres or is Adam’s on the lake?
Also. Why have full screen pop ups gotten exponentially worse on this site |

No, I really haven't heard anything, looking more like Necas is staying, Ehlers seems to have been a game played by Winnipeg and Briere is not Happy about Draft day. |
