Does this mean KK will spend a good portion of the season at the Rock? He seemed a bit overwhelmed at times last year

Good point was made in the last blog - guys that are 3rd in overall ice time usually not gonna go down. Probably his spot to lose but if he takes a poop in training camp or to start the year they'll probably drop him down.

I'm more of a let him figure it out kinda guy especially since he'll be well supported with Martinez or Murphy on his right but we'll see.

The big Arty signing is interesting. I'd think that MSU would be better than Rockford especially if they want him to put on another 5-10 kilos but what do I know.

Sounds like they got pretty hard with how Rinzel showed up to the prospects party. Gotta wonder where that leaves Seth Jones, especially as a guy who sees himself as the-guy.

Completely unrelated but has anyone updated their kitchen recently. We are in a reno and pretty sure its going to be a Miele or Bosch induction cook top (electrifying whole house so it smells like lavender and if we were going to go the gas route I'd just restore a vintage one).

Anyone have any good wall oven suggestions or must have features? Any experience with those speed ovens which aren't microwaves but aren't quite ovens? Seems like the best option is to sit on a closeout and just make sure it has convection and elements at the top and bottom with brand not being as consequential.

Really want to stay away from GE and the Haier family of stuff. The CAFE mini oven thing we have has been disappointing from a finish perspective and some functional stuff is irritating and the washer\dryer combo we have is wonderful when it works but they (frank)ed up some of the design stuff on the filter so it requires regular cleaning of the compressor fins and I've had to take the whole thing apart (pretty literally) to get a clog out of the water pump. For anyone not mechanically or electronically inclined it would not be a good experience. And, based on the build quality of the touch screen, plastic and other electronic components I'd expect to have to replace some of that in 3-5 years for sure. I still have some faith the Germans can at least design a decent machine. Our Bosch tools and the Sebo vacuum we have are excellent.

I asked chat GPT if Seth Jones was on the block. This was its response:

Seth Jones is currently not actively on the trade block, but there are some trade rumors circulating. While the Chicago Blackhawks are in a rebuilding phase and Jones is considered an important asset for the team, there has been speculation about a potential trade involving him and Mitch Marner from the Toronto Maple Leafs. This speculation, discussed by Scott Powers from The Athletic, suggests that while the Blackhawks might not be eager to move Jones due to his significant role in the team, the possibility of such a trade exists .

The primary reasons for these trade rumors include the Blackhawks’ need for offensive talent and veteran leadership, which Marner could provide, and the Maple Leafs’ need to bolster their defense, which Jones could address. Both players have hefty contracts, and any potential trade would need to consider salary cap implications and no-movement clauses .

For now, it seems unlikely that the Blackhawks will trade Seth Jones, but the situation could evolve as the offseason progresses.

I would like one of our BOD experts to project the Icehog starting lineup. Assume only Bedard, Reichel, Vlasic and one other young defender make the Hawks roster on opening night.

Slaggert, Nazar, Soderblom and the rest start in Rockford.

I would assume it would be much easier to put on weight at MSU than Rockford.

Even though i would assume a better program in the pros, less games in college gives you more time. Playing a pro schedule doesn't give you as much time to work out and playing a pro schedule has to burn calories like mad (guess I need to get into pro hockey......)

I think he will have to WIN a Parent club job or he will be in Rockford...and he and Arty will be perfect as an eventaul first pair playing to each others strengths- the bs of their similarities are a fantasy.

Yeah, we've never seen a guy have a solid 16 game stretch to end a year and then fall off...

We did it two years ago. Pulled up the floor and all the drywall off the walls. I am a retired electrician so did all the work for that. We are all gas as my wife doesn't like electric. We bought a stove that is also a air fryer. We put in a wall mounted oven as well as a drawer microwave. The exhaust is the type that covers the stove and then goes up the wall and vents out through the attic. I think the appliances are different brands but we checked to see how they were rated before we bought. I even put a shut-off for the dishwasher above the counter. The cabinets are the most important. We bought them from a cabinet place and there were so many scratches we sent them back and went through Home Depot. We mounted everything but the quartz countertop. Built the island and the pantry ourselves and my wife laid the tile floor and the glass tile backsplash. I also added a pot filler above the stove. Great feature. I also like that we laid the counter over the sink. Much cleaner look. I wouldn't do it again, but I am glad we did it ourselves.

I just read an article questioning whether the Blackhawks tampered with Tyler Bertuzzi because Foligno called him the day before free agency. Technically, he was still under contract to Toronto. The league hasn't said anything as yet.

You need to win a spot, so who is he taking one away from?

1 Bedard
2. Foligno
3. Richarderson
4. Teravainen
5 Hall
6. Bertuzzi
7. Kurashev
8. Athanasiou
9 Donato
10 Mikheyev
11 Maroon
12 C. Smith

I don't know, he was okay, but I'd put it this way. Do you see him topping out as an 11 minute a night 4th line guy? That's the role he played in those final 16 games. He barely saw the PK and had some of the weakest underlying metrics on the team over that span.

I'm not saying he won't get better or can't be good, but I think he is a guy who has exactly 1 month of pro experience. With a new season starting they might want to let the coaching staff have time with him and allow him to play in more situations in the AHL. Situations the coaching staff weren't comfortable with putting him in much at the NHL level, such as the PK.

This is just my opinion, but I think in some cases, guys have the talent to make the jump directly, but Slaggert seems like one of those guys that will have to put his nose to the grindstone because he doesn't seem like he can talent passed being inexperienced at the pro level.

Maybe he won't need much time or he will come into camp ready. Maybe he will only need a bit of time to really get comfortable and confident in the Hawks system. I'd like to see him earn some more ice time from the coaches and become more than the bottom forward on the totem pole when it comes to playing time. I do like him, I just think he will have to earn it and his 16 games last season to me, weren't enough to declare him 100% developed and ready.

We love our quartz counters also laid over one big sink basin, one drain. Where I live, four houses from where the water comes into the Tampa bay, at Pinellas Point, we are a block away from a gas line so I had to learn to cook with electric.
After i left the stove on a few times, she insisted on a induction stove so the house didn't burn down. It turns off when the plan is removed. The guy who did ours was a neighbor whoss parents used to on Petricca's on Grand and Western - I think they had one of the first busses to games and back.
I finally figured out the stove temps.
Our crown jewel is the GAF solar panels (not glass->rubber) and we got our bill from Duke energy $30 monthly hook up and $5+ dollars tax.

Well wiz said last season that he was sound defensively, smart, not overmatched. We added some players and AA status is unknown. So now he needs to get experience but last season he was OK in the NHL.

Got it. His NHL readiness is NOW viewed differently.

So far KD has not added much scoring help. I hope that Nazar will provide scoring and is here most of the season. Slaggert doesn't seem to need to improve much at all to myself but hey I am not an expert. Hall remaining healthy would really help but he was always dinged up until he was injured and out for the season

Neither is Slaggert. He's considered a better prospect than Hardman and a guy who will probably play games as a B6 fwd.

I like Slaggert but pretty sure he isn't guaranteed a spot on the team. If he beats someone out great. If he plays big minutes in RFD also great.

Idk...I'd say Teuvo and Bertuzzi should contribute some scoring in your top 6 and moving guys like D!ckinson and Foligno into B6 roles vs playing in your top 6 should balance out the lines and the scoring. Don't see a playoff team but I think there will be some more goals and offense this year.

There will be a trade or two before the season starts, not sure AA will be on the team and they’ll probably move a defenseman or two.
