Is one looking for a life altering payday and one looking to just stick with his team ?
- ClaudeFather

Konecny and Stamkos were both negotiating to stick with the team they were currently on.

Absolutely. Not the Couturier has ever been useless offensively, his offensive skills took many seasons to develop. In mind mind he’s only had two reason solid years, both with Giroux on his left side. If Coots doesn’t hurt his back, who knows what he looks like without G in a full 82 season?
- roenick97

Couts was the best defensive forward on the Flyers from day 1.

https://www.delawareonlin...sive-specialist/17788189/

That's what hurt him early in his career. The Flyers had nobody else close to his ability to take those hard minutes against other teams top players. He filled a huge need on those Flyers.

They had other players who could score so he got pigeon-holed because they were trying to win every year and developing players was for losers.

Those hard minutes are also why it was a gamble to give Coots that long term contract at his age. Think John LeClair when all those crosschecks to the back finally caught up with him and how he was post surgery.

No it doesn’t matter. Nobody has to do anything. It takes two sides to agree on contract which both sides did when talking about the Flyers and Hathaway. If you don’t like a player and don’t agree on a price, don’t pay that price. Simple.
- roenick97

you are a dumb phuck. you are no talking about a diff situation and scenario. go back and re-read your post corky. actually never mind don't even respond back.

I haven't made that statement. First you deny making a comment and now you invent that others have said something. Stop being a moron.

Comprehension always avoids you. First off Stamkos wasn’t betting on himself 😂. This was a situation of a player trying to stick with his team, who has been there for what 15 years? TK is a totally different scenario. This is an enormous payday for him. Stamkos has been paid. Not that money wasn’t the deciding factor , but to compare these scenarios…a moron as usual
- ClaudeFather

betting on himself at his age, sure why not. he took the cash. end of story

Certainly behind the 8-ball at the start but the knock on him pre-draft was that he didn't really bring any standout/elite/dynamic qualities offensively and that's been pretty much what has kept him from reaching the same heights as the guys who jumped him in the draft order (RNH, Zibanejad, Huberdeau and Scheifele).

Not a huge disappointment but still wish the Flyers had gotten even more out of 8OA in that draft.

- Tomahawk

Does the top 10 in 2011 have the highest floor of any draft? Not a single bust till you get to 11, where the guy the Flyers were rumored to want went to Colorado.

I did check it out. You denied saying it. I provided the facts. You were always clueless but you used to be tolerable. Now you're just an idiot whose only goal is to inflame as you have been exposed for what you are. Bring it on.

Think it was more just waiting and hoping his team would give him a fair shake. They obviously were determined to go in another direction. Nothin like the TK situation

They didn't have complete control, that's incorrect. If they had complete control, Gauthier would've done what they wanted. They had the rights to the player. He was not under contract and the Flyers had no control on whether Gauthier signed the contract or went back to college.
- MJL

I don’t think I ever stated that they had control of him signing. I stated they had complete control of the player for 4 years. Fact. They had complete control of the decision to trade him. Fact.

And yes cutter had control to sign or not but as we’ve already established and you yourself stated all top prospects want to sign to burn 1st year so there no way cutter was gonna sit 4 years in college.

But they still had control at the time being, what did he have to play two additional college seasons to reach free agency? I highly doubt he would commit to that.
- ClaudeFather

He wouldn’t. No top prospect would nowadays

Both are using their UFA status as leverage in their contract negotiation. It is unintelligent to say the situations are nothing alike. No two situations are completely the same but those two are certainly not completely unalike.

Nothing new on TK?

No new rumors about Frost, Laughton, or Farabee?

Whatever happened to the Chabot, Zegras, Krebs chatter that was once prevalent?

Anything new on Michkovs ETA?

Just not reading anything anywhere about this stuff.

Can’t offer sheet Necas due to arbitration. However, considering the Flyers have all their picks in the first three rounds, which could be anywhere but likely again 12-16 maybe 8-16, do the Flyers consider an offer sheet for Byfield, Seider, Benniers, or Mercer? These are known NHL players. Are they worth the picks at this point?

It's all pretty much over. Unlikely that anything major happens until training camp time. If at all.
