Pipeline is strong in net. Hopefully Jarry salvages some trade value this year and they can roll with Murashov and Blomqvist by 2026.

I vividly remember the time frame when the Sid lottery was won. This was a team that just almost relocated. It was still a fresh wound that jagrs salary was shed in a salary dump. The thought of paying a star a lot of money seemed so far away. I vividly remember thinking that maybe they could keep Crosby and Malkin together for 5 or 6 years. My expectations have been greatly exceeded

Murray was a beast in the A, I thought he was going to be more like he was his first 2 seasons. At least we got those out of him before he mentally derailed.

Murray was a monster for 3-4 years and absolutely earned his shot. But he was a pretty lousy goalie in the OHL. So there was a chance he figured it out, but also a chance he'd revert back into a pumpkin.

Now Blomqvist and Murashov, they have been steady their entire careers. So I love our chances that at least one becomes an above average starter.

Too bad they suck no matter what they do.

Once the league figured out Murray's glove side was like a crumbled muffin, he was done. He never fixed his glove side and than the injuries started to come.

Chronologically, yes, but in all reality, this era ends with how you choose to remember it. If you are going to choose to remember the last 3-4 years of the team not making the playoffs then that sucks for you. This era is going to end with 3 Stanley Cups, a 4th finals appearance, multiple deep playoff runs, at least two HOF'ers playing in Pens jerseys for their entire career. In all reality this era of Penguins hockey, far eclipses just about every fanbases hopes and dreams for their team.

The good thing about how Dubas is doing things is, he could totally pivot on a slow rebuild into going for it in a year. Or, we could go the other way and totally tear it down.

Two biggest wildcards for us are:
1. Yager & Bloomqvists ability to break through into the NHL.
2. Graves ability to bounce back and become a solid 2LD for us.

If young guys can break through, it will accelerate any "rebuild" and encourage Dubas to add talent to the team and try to compete. If Graves can step it up and be more productive he goes from a salary dump to a productive contract it becomes one less area for us to focus cap space on and we can put more money into the forward group.

It would be really awesome if we could at least see the same transition of hope we got with Mario handing off to Sid. There might not be a generational talent in the cards for us but it would be cool to see a year or two of Sid & Yager and Malkin & Howe going out there together and playing some good hockey. I mention those two players specifically because I do think they both have a special quality to them and could see them becoming very productive sooner than later.

I'm still learning about Howe. Seems a stretch he's ready before Malkin retires. It is nice that he can turn pro next year though.

Yager I do want sharing a lockerroom with Sid. He's not a generational talent, but he does share that type of work ethic and dedication to the details of his game.

You can draft LaFrenière, Bedard, Matthews, Celebrini and even McDavid and don't win the ultimate prize. It's a tough league. No guarantees at all. We are VERY lucky to have Crosby and Malkin. We've seen 3 cups with this core group. And I'm not even mentioning Letang as Hainsey/Schultz/Daley proved we didn't need a top top defenseman to win it all. Some will say we were lucky but our group played the right way.

I’d be just as happy to see the two HoF’ers Sid and Letang leave and finish out their careers playing in the playoffs. If they truly want to stay in Pit I’m cool with that too. Sullivan ushering in another round of guys taught to be satisfied losing is where it all falls apart for me. Give them a team with some balls if nothing else.

We could finish the season 0-82 and I'd still have nothing but love for this era of Penguins hockey. We arent going to go out competing and that's okay, all NHL runs come to an end. Its how North American sports leagues are set up.

I was one of the people advocating to resign Malkin/Letang and I dont think that was the wrong move.

This era gave us 3 Cups, 4 Cup appearances, and for me personally, that happened during my young adult years which made it even more fun.

I think the deal gets done at around $10M/year and Sid deserves that and more. I wonder if he'd consider investing in FSG. LeBron is already a part owner as well.

haha even though we lost Letang I thought we played pretty well as a team defensively. Good enough for another cup. Schultz was at his best. Hainsey and Daley were veteran additions that worked for this short run. Dumoulin and Mattaa were reliable (kind of).

We were caved in our own zone hemorrhaging chances quite a bit, especially series 1, 2 and 4. More so the 1st two series. The 3rd series (Sens) had the 1-3-1 Guy Boucher system, which is somewhat conservative in nature when it comes to forechecking, to battle against. Took until 2nd OT of game 7 to win that series.

Lights out goaltending and extremely opportunistic scoring/sky high shooting %'s were the factors that got us to the promise land in 2017. Its not a sustainable winning way of hockey and just the fact it lasted 4 series has a bit of luck to it for sure hahah

Desperation>Corsi in the playoffs. A “high danger scoring chance” isn’t high danger when you just get your stick on puck at the last second. In 17 teams weren’t able to match the Pens desperation. That and everything you said, but more that.
