Hopefully Sid signs an 8 year 4.87 Million or something
front loaded, play 4 years get all your money and the Pens just eat the dead cap via buyout of the last 4 years, or do the LTIR thing
Hope they work the system and don't do a 3 year 30 Million or anything like that |

It’s so funny how negative you guys can be about a young hockey player making the most out of his NHL opportunity. No if given the same opportunity most kids coming into the NHL would not fight Matt Martin his first shift ever. And it’s not like 6’7” is even an advantage when you weigh 180. I hope he gets minutes, hits(clean, dirty, late don’t care) and fights and media coverage all season. It’s great for the game. - Grinder47
You are the king of being negative towards young players. |

That is just DEAF DUMB AND BLIND Must be a lib You can say that about injury car accident or anything bad that can happen Quit playing the what if game and wake up - broncohorvath
This is a serious question. Are you drunk, or did you have a stroke? FSG is a business who has a priority to make money. Sid will keep people paying for and buying tickets. It is not hard to figure out....

That is a thing of the past, but I wonder what he could do to negotiate a post player contract?
I guarantee FSG will want Crosby to stick around, possibly as a CEO or Executive President role running the broader org. Could he sign two separate contracts with the team?
1. Player Contract
2. Executive Contract (w/ equity).
So instead of doing just a 3 year $30M deal, could he sign a 3 year, $7.5M deal on his player contract and a separate executive contract (for post playing career) with a large equity grant, $40M current value for example.
So Crosby gets more than made whole on the near term salary with equity and the Pens if they so chose could either add more talent or just not spend the money. Kind of unprescidented because there are no other players in this same type of situation in the league. |

Sorry that is JUST DUMB SID does not rub off on others I wish he did but that is just fantasy Sure he has a lot of respect but that does not rub off either Respect is earned not given away for free Wake up - broncohorvath
I think of you start to follow chicago you will find a lot of their coaching staff used to rub off on the team. Sounds more like your cup of tea. |

No, you can't have an organizational role and a player role even if the contracts don't cross over. Otherwise every team would do this and have players getting roles for things like "work from home mail room clerk" for every player over 35. |

First and foremost the CBA has a clause that a contract can't have like a 33% difference in salary from the most expensive year to the least expensive. No more $1,000,000 final 3 years.
In addition, NHL contracts are guaranteed. Sid would get "all his money" if he sat on LTIR or played.
Further, "Front loading" contracts is trying to put more salary in the up front years to make trading the contract easier in the future, not the case with Sid really.

You cant even construct a proper paragraph, or sentence, and have trouble spelling the simplest of words, man. None of this would even matter that much to me if you weren't calling other people stupid and dissing their IQ's. You're the dumbest person on Hockeybuzz and it's not even close. I've seen other team's fans around the site calling you out for being an absolute dummy as well.
Might start calling you Lloyd Christmas. |

Not only can't they do that, I don't think they will. If they were willing to carry dead money into the future to make this team better, then they probably would have just signed Guentzel. At this point I think they want to clean up their cap over the next 2-4 years. |

Haha. I'm not necessarily a fan of his, but I'll be willing to say good on Rempe for getting all those trainers and doing what he has to to carve out a career for himself. Working with a skills coach and Roberts means at least he's trying to become a player who can handle a regular shift. |

That’s probably like 30k of his own money being reinvested into himself. You sign a 6 month deal with Adam Oates that includes camps, 1-1 skills lessons catered to you’re playing style, then in season he reveiwing tape with you. Pretty cool. |
