If the Risto trade is no NHL help for 5 years, it's a failure too.
Eichel has more points than Tuch, so you should drop that line. - Lunaion

I think Dahlin and Power do that, but the points won't be there if the top 6 doesn't show up. The bottom 6 is unlikely to produce much, so there's an even bigger burden on them. - Lunaion
Same burden as last season, unless you count 4 goals as some kind of large difference.
23-24 Bottom Six
Okposo 12
Zemgus 8
Krebs 4
Greenway 10
Mittelstadt 14
Benson 11
Olofsson 7
TOTAL = 66
24-25 Bottom Six
Lafferty 13
NAK 6
Malenstyn 6
Greenway 10
McLeod 12
Benson 11
Krebs 4
TOTAL = 62 |

Exactly. Eichel at $10m took far more poop from the fans/media and produced considerably more year-over-year than Dahlin at $11m. Time for the #1 pick to elevate the team - Hank Balling
The boys could learn quite a bit by adopting the following as their mantra
"From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked".
Guys in their early/mid twenties earning millions for playing a game they love. Start acting like you are greatful.
Dahlin, if named Captain is the second half of those words of wisdom, while the balance of the team is the 1st part. |

Get him a partner he can trust, and you probably see that. Sabres haven't helped Dahlin very much in anything since he's gotten here. - Buff36
Meh, at his experience level and pay grade, HE needs to help improve the play of others, not vice-versa. If he needs others to help his game, they made a huge mistake paying him that. |

Sucks having all these top 2 picks, but only 2 LD left from it. I don't know how you win in this league without an elite F. - Lunaion
Solid post. Wheeler or Pronman wrote an article about the last 10 (I think) SC winners, analyzing the rosters of each....if you don't have one, very likely you aren't winning a SC. Need elite 0lwyers in several spots, along with several others at the next level down. Sabres roster isn't there yet, and will become harder to acquire as the prospects and players age out. |

They made a huge mistake in his Development, who has been there to teach or Mentor this kid. He has basically learned on his Own. I blame the Sabres for Dahlin not being Elite. |

There doing the same thing to Power, Sabres do nothing to help Mentor these kids. |

You know, he should have been a prime target for an O/S.
I wrote about it in a post a week or two ago. The kid has the pedigree and training with HoFer Kopitar.
We can all rightfully laugh at the notion of O/S's, but damn he would have been absolutely perfect.
How else will this team ever acquire an elite forward otherwise.? |

Getting him to sign it is the big thing. Sabres need to have a good season and hope it attracts some players. Adams hasn't done enough and Okposo coming out and saying sh!t didn't help, a Captain of a Team saying that. He hasn't done enough to make it look like he's trying to Win. |

I don't disagree.. same with Power.
Yet, they took the money.
Now play according to that level is my point.

Think Dahlin is, Power is a huge Man. It might take him a bit without the right Mentor. |

2013 - Cal Peterson, walked away
2014 - Jonas Johansson, AHL goalie, traded for Nikita Novikov
2015 - None
2016 - None
2017 - UPL
2018 - None
2019 - Erik Portillo, traded for Gavin McCarthy
2020 - None
2021 - None (traded for Devon Levi, 2020 7th rd pick)
2022 - Topias Leinonen
2023 - Scott Ratzlaff
2024 - Ryerson Leenders
Goalies take between 2 (CHL) and 4 (Euro/NCAA) years to just show up into your system, let alone play NHL minutes for you.
I bet you can see the reason why Doogie Houser and Toki have been here for the better part of a decade.
Even then, you may not sign them all for various reasons. Drafting one every year decreases your chances of having to fall on a Jack Campbell or Joonas Korpisalo grenade. |
