I watch alot of The Bolts, and that spot is Kucherov's on their PP, with Point in the Benson spot. Kuch doesn't go to the net front at all, he is in the FO circle exclusively and the puck goes to him. Dahlin, to me is closet to Kuch the Sabres have...slippery and a distributor with a wickedly accurate shot. It works well for them. Closest I can come up with. The thought of Byram at the top is intriguing to me as well...a guy in motion alot - IonSabres
Sabres were not good at screening the goalies vision last year. We need that, as its much easier to score when goalie is struggling to find the puck. Good goalies excel at reading the play and typically are already in position by the time our passes reached Tage. |

Kevyn and Meathead thought everything was going fine as we were able to score on Comrie in practice with ease |

Gutsy call as he's currently a man with no college team nor any entry level contract. Good year last year though - turbo044

To sum this up, the 3rd line last year of Mittelstadt, Greenway and Benson produced a total of 35 goals.
Sub in McLeod for Mittelstadt in that trio and you're looking at a goal loss of 2 whole goals.
The 4th line of Krebs, Kyle and Zemgus produced 24 goals.
The new 4th line of NAK, Lafferty and Malenstyn produced 25 goals.
The season once again hinges on the top 6 and Dahlin producing goals, but I'm not seeing this expected drop-off from the bottom 2 lines. |

If the Sabres fix the PP to even an average PP Dahlins point totals should go up by atleast 10-15 points. Dahlin was excellent last year. His teammates were not.
As for the top 6. Tage, cozens, and tuch need to fix their games. All of them had lackluster seasons last year.
So yeah. This has all been said already this offseason. |

It’s a production based business. He had 0 points in 7 games and didn’t show much.
Time to step up. That can be said for all the Sabres prospects that get called up.
I’m not saying they need to be called up and turn into Connor mcdavid.
You need to chip or atleast show flashes of something. |

Think he could be the best all around player of the Bunch, but I hear he is someone who has problems keeping weight on. |

And what we gain in defense, FO%, and speed is worth way more than a couple goals. |

The speed alone will help our 3rd and 4th lines not get absolutely crushed or hemmed in to our own zone. |

Well you hope McLeod keeps growing in the FO% Department. If not we didn't gain anything there, Lafferty isn't very good on the Dot |

Goal Differential.
Increase GF by 20 to roughly 265
Reduce GA by 15 to roughly 240
The weight isn't totally on GF's |

With the regression we had last year
You can spin it 100 different ways
Bottom line is we didn’t score enough |

This, speed and being able to process the game quickly. Benson should be a guy up front. He is sneaky, finding holes in the PK to get a shot off.. just needs the guy down low who can find him.
Edit: maybe Dahlin should be moved down low to be the distributor, ala Kucherov. Let Byram play up top. - IonSabres
I like the Benson idea, for the future. The goal front guy is going to take a pounding, I'm not sure he has that strength yet.

People are sleeping on him. He's going to be a good middle 6 winger that can both shoot and distribute. I'm hopeful both he and Kulich are up full-time next year. |

They scored 244 last year and allowed 243.
Dropping it by 15 would get them to the 220's, which would be top 5 in the league.
A plus 40 goal differential would be top 10 in the league.
A plus 20 differential feels like a more realistic hope when they were basically even last season. |

He broke 10 minutes 2/7 times and played the most, by far, with Jost and Olo. Next pairing is Olo and Biro, then Krebs and Okposo. He was given 5 seconds of PP time as well.
Dare I say, he didn't get any real chance to produce. |

I mean it really all depends on the guys who slumped. If Tage, Tuch, Cozens and Quinn can all get back to where they SHOULD be, we'll have a fighting chance. It just sucks we have to hope all our bets hit. |

Fixing the PP is huge IMO, even if they could get it to 15 to 18 rank range would be a nice boost. There PK should be just as good if not better with the speed added. |

Casey Mittelstatd had the highest TOI/G 5v5 for forwards. Counting him in the bottom 6 is a real stretch, at best. So, while I shouldn't, I'm going to include him anyway just because the offset of McLeod's GAR will blow our group away. He actually played bottom 6 minutes.
23-24 Bottom Six GAR: 15.8 (Mitts was 14.1)
24-25 Bottom Six GAR: 25.6 (McLeod was 10.1)
