They need to get rid of Fatso and female dogy and completely revamp the organization. The fact that they didn't fire the GM after the disaster that was last years collapse in the playoffs is hilarious.

So every GM should be fired every season?

He's not wrong though, the problem is their pitching is older so they're in a win now mode. They should be selling fringe players and large contracts. If you get the right offer for either player you make the deal.

The problem is, you need another solid pitching prospect at a minimum and two bats at a minimum.

They say they're not selling, plan to compete next year.

After 5 seasons of failure and losing a winnable series in the playoffs against the Twins where they had two cracks at moving on? Yes. The point is that the team isn't a contender even though they say it is. Vladdy Guerrero Jr. and Bichette might be stars but they aren't September/October performers and they've had several shots. The fact that the Twins were able to kill a rally by Guerrero Jr. being picked off is inexcusable. The fact that the team isn't willing to move on from them and try and build a better roster is par for the course in Toronto. It took the Laffs 9 seasons to finally turf Keefe and still they're holding onto the Shanaplan that's shown to not be the way to the promised land.

kikuchi should be worth a fair bit. Garcia.

Turner could grab a decent prospect 3-4 years out.

If the sell Bo or Vladdy then there should be a pile of young talent coming in. They need young arms to replace Gausman and Bassit who they should be open to trading if the right deal is offered. That might take another year or two.

Jays need to fire Atkins and Shapiro before they make any deadline deals. They have utterly failed and I feel any more moves they make will just set the team back further.

That is one painful team to watch. CFL is borderline. Looking forward to the Olympics.

The only thing slower and dumber than Defencemen are the Rink Rats. You just happen to be both. Speaking of which, don't you have a tampon machine to refill?

lol CFL has gotten a bit better but still tough to watch. We saw Bombers-Stamps a few summers back live in Winnipeg and I will say the live event was quite good. Beautiful stadium there too in WPG not much else there

Could honestly care less about any Olympics now. Pretty soon they'll have categories and events for pool cleaners. Way too many stupid events now. But, everyone gets a trophy.

Good little article on Sprong:

https://www.vancouverisaw...ve-doubters-wrong-9254400

“I talked to Vancouver and spoke to coach Tocc and we had a really good conversation on the phone,” said Sprong. “We’ve known each other — when I got drafted by Pittsburgh, I played under him when he was an assistant coach — and we had a really good talk. I felt really happy after that call and the decision was a no-brainer after that.”

...

“My defensive game can be a little bit of a weakness and it’s the coach’s trust in certain situations where that affects my ice time,” said Sprong. “That’s something we talked about and we’re going to work on in Vancouver to gain the trust and be reliable in those situations.

"I'm working on it over the summertime to work on those details. And it's not just for myself, it's for my team as well and for the guys I'm playing with. For example, chipping out pucks and knowing the time and place of the game — not to take maybe the risk that I would take with 15 minutes left in a period but won't take with three minutes to go in the period. Those are all things we talked about. I know what I can bring to the team and what the opportunity is if I gain the trust."

I'm still getting accustomed to off-seasons that aren't unmitigated disasters.

Allvin's been lucky there haven't been any significant floods in the Fraser Valley since taking over as GM. His time management seems to be improved over the previous regime, as well.

"We picked up a middle-six forward that we think can score 20-25 goals," says Jim Rutherford about the Daniel Sprong signing on the

.

"We're still looking at ways to improve our team even though we are comfortable with the work that we've done."
