"We picked up a middle-six forward that we think can score 20-25 goals," says Jim Rutherford about the Daniel Sprong signing on the

"We're still looking at ways to improve our team even though we are comfortable with the work that we've done." - VanHockeyGuy
I still think they will do the JR special: Wait until about a month or so into the season and make a trade to address any major holes. It worked fantastically with Zadorov last year
He’s not garbage, but he’s got poor hockey IQ, kinda like Reuby, and he’s just not that talented. For a 10th overall pick he’s showing to be a bottom six guy at best, which is disappointing, although not uncommon. - Pacificgem
Great work ethic & good speed just to much of a robotic mind set. Doesn’t know selfish hockey is ok rather than being predictable. North South & rip it. Crash the net & aggravate ops. Play with more of a chip on his shoulder consistently like Joshua & now Sherwood. Ceiling middle 6 3rd wheel puck retriever if puts it together. Floor 4th line depth player.
He's not wrong though, the problem is their pitching is older so they're in a win now mode. They should be selling fringe players and large contracts. If you get the right offer for either player you make the deal.
The problem is, you need another solid pitching prospect at a minimum and two bats at a minimum. - golfingsince
Jays need to fire Atkins and Shapiro before they make any deadline deals. They have utterly failed and I feel any more moves they make will just set the team back further. - Oildrum
Abysmal mgmt. Never liked them from the start but I also don’t care about the Blow Jays. Move a team to Vancouver & buy the Expo name. The best hat in MLB.
Doesn’t need development he needs to be hungrier & fight for a job on the ice on a daily basis. - Nighthawk
If you say his work ethic is excellent then he’s out there fighting. What’s missing is the refinement to his game to be NHL consistent. That needs development. Plain and simple he’s been behind getting there. Now he’s out of waiver exempt time. So will have to pick through it on spot duty.

Guessing they will try to upgrade the D in a hockey trade.

He’s not consistently forcing himself into the line-up. You win a coaches trust. AHL only takes a player so far gotta the door down.
