A rumour from the FAN590, Shane Wright to Chicago for Reichel and a draft pick. The pick wasn’t specified, I guess making up a rumour is good enough? - paulr
Shane Wright really isn't any better than Reichel is he? Sounds like the Schmaltz trade in reverse. |

Why would it be a mear rumour - after all FAN 590 was right on top of Shohei Ohtani signing with the Blue Jays this winter.
New Kraken coaches Dan Bylsma and his female assistant coached Wright in the AHL last year. Maybe they have decided that Wright stinks. |

While it’s undeniable that Wright has more value than Reichel, I’d rather keep Reichel and trade them one of the young Dmen not named KK or Vlasic plus a pick. I’m not ready to give up on Reichel until I see him play 20 games with NHL caliber forwards. |

The number change will fix Reichel. |

Football is also a bit different due to the rookies being early 20’s instead of late teens. Tends to be a quicker transition time. - Chunk
It's also a less complicated game. |

Wright was a monster for CV in the Calder Cup Playoffs. I don't see him being traded, even if he doesn't make Seattle's opening roster.

White Sox are doing the same for the second time in 5 years. It takes some luck. Rick Hahn bet on the wrong guys. Cease and Giolito are gone. Moncada and Jimenez can't stay on the field and really aren't that good. - rpeters01
Robert can't stay healthy. Moncada hasn't been the same since he got covid. Eloy has been Eloy. Winning in 2005 really reinforced their mediocre efforts.
They also had the opportunity to add some big name players and they weren't willing to open up their checkbook to complete the team and make it happen. If they would have added a few years ago and completed the roster - they would have at least made the playoffs a few times.
It had less to do with Hahn and more to do with the support from ownership to spend. It will be no different moving forward since they just hired another Reinsdorf patsy. No real manager or GM would work for the Sox with their current front office structure and limitations financially.
And it's not just the players, it's the analytics department, scouting department and everything else is just bargain basement, lowest cost possible kinda thing.
Had one of the better play by play guys in the league and wouldn't pay him.
The Bulls have certainly half assed their rebuilds. (Same owner so not a huge coincidence) But they at least have people in ops that aren't a Reinsdorf appointee.
The Bears have just been inept and the McCaskey's have self sabotaged more often than not. Not dissimilar to Reinsdorf. They completely overhauled their front office and put football people in charge which seems like it may help. They're also opening the check book where needed which they haven't done in the past.
The Hawks on the other hand have spent heavily on building an analytic department, investing a lot in the scouting department and are less than 10 million under the cap to pay a team that won't win them a cup this year but could help put guys in a position to compete in the next 2-3.
All may have end up with the same result but only the Bears and Hawks (with luckily getting their first overall picks) are I think set up for any type of success. |

Reinsdorf's folly with La Russa was sad. Trying to right a wrong from nearly 40 years ago. 2005 was a fluke. Not 1987 Twins level fluke, but it was a fluke. The Sox have been badly run since the stoppage in 1994. And they didn't have to try because they were backstopped with the stadium sweetheart deal if they failed to reach a certain attendance level. But they did have the best organist in baseball, though her hire predated the Reinsdorf era. |

I can't imagine Seattle would make that deal.
I think the issues with him are play off the puck. Fundamentally he should have been able to settle in to a fourth line or third line roll and play defensively solid hockey, win some battles and get his confidence back that way.
They have plenty of guys coming up that are a similar type player and I don't think he has the mental toughness or mentality to take a spot from Hall, Bertuzzi, TT, Kurashev or even Nazar.

Lots of young players stumble in the "sophomore slump" fashion and Reichel still has potential to be an effective player. Hopefully he earns some top 6 minutes over guys like AA. AA shouldn't be more than 4th line hopefully this season. |

Oh definitely, football is a 3-4 year tear down rebuild, hockey is a 5-7 year deal.
Both have accelerated a bit though, KD getting Bedard, Poles maybe making the best trade in the history of the NFL.

Wright reminds of Sam Bennett all the hype but never reach the potential. Now the book is still out on Wright but this is his third year so imo he needs show some growth same with reichel. |

Interesting that Wright is the exact same age as Nazer. So if Nazer is not playing regular as a top 6 forward this year for the Hawks that he is a bust already also? if CV would of won the Calder Cup, odds are Wright would of won MVP as an under 21 year old. Love the Reichel for Wright trade for the Hawks, but I don't see the Kracken even considering it. I saw Wright play about 5 times in person for CV this past year, he is going to have a nice career as a 200 ft. center. |

If I m Seattle I m not giving up on him. Signs are there for Wright to have break out season same with Reichel time will only tell if Wright or reichel ever pan out.

Nazar lost almost a year to an injury though. Wright spent a year on the Magical Mystery Tour because he came from the CHL. Looks like lots of upside and lots of questions still for both. Wondering how either could be considered a bust at 20.
Agree, can't see Seattle trading Wright for Reichel unless the included pick is the CHI 1st next year. Wright for Nazar might work, but not much reason to do that. |

Would it be out of the question to just exchange players? New team, new environment, yada, yada, yada??? Or are we hooked on Reichel? |

I would still not give up on either player lots of potential in both players. Give one more year then evaluate both players then. |

Wright was almost the undisputed #1 pick. Nazar and Reichel were never in that conversation. |

Kind of wanted to suggest this too but didn’t know as much as some who have followed his career more closely
Another way to say thus outcome is, there could be an opening for a top six caliber player even after Nazar ascends to this lofty position |

I like the type of skill and speed from Nazar more than what Wright offers. And KD should value Nazar more than weight for the kind of team he is on record to desire to craft |
