Trade him now. He had a good year, his value is at it's highest. They could recover the 1st they used to acquire him and promote Benoit to do the exact same job for a lower price.
He's another bad long term deal waiting to happen a la Muzzin, Bryan McCabe, Robidas, Brodie etc. Just don't do it. Especially after that Tanev deal. One of those deals on the books is enough.
I'd pass as I don't think he's got enough in the tank at the 37/38.
He'd have to displace Reaves even at the age of 37 which I do not see happening unless Reaves is hurt. - dmnted
Clutterbuck is, has been and will continue to be a far superior hockey player than Reaves. Reaves is useless to this team on the ice. Make him the executive assistant to the DJ and call it a day.

Movement at this time of year is so common
When it comes to the leafs it’s about two RFA’s and a questionable UFA and that’s about it - Dozzer
It's not common - but last year on July 9th the Wings acquired DeBrincat, on August 6th the Canadiens acquired Petry and DeSmith and the Penguins acquired Karlsson; a week later the Canadiens would move out Petry to Detroit and a month after that they moved out DeSmith to the Canucks.
Two years ago today was the Tkachuk trade. Also in mid-July Marino and Burns were traded. The Sean Monahan trade to the Habs also happened in August 2022 as did the acquisition of Adin Hill from the Sharks by Vegas.
Summer trades do happen, but they are definitely less common. Any moves the Leafs would be liable to make at this point are, as you suggested, not likely to be blockbusters, but I suppose you could classify the moves as based on either (a) a team that Marner would be willing go to just knocks the Leafs' socks off with an offer, or (b) Hakanpaa is actually ready to play and they decide, for cap reasons, to deal Timmins or Liljegren. If Nick Robertson won't sign, he's going to be dealt as well. I think he legitimately has a chance to crack the top-6 given our LW weakness, but if now is when he wants to go, let the door hit him on the way out and send him to Utah or Columbus.

Oh I know teades do happen but generally because the team is forced like the Tkachuk deal I can see it’s done to risk losing the player for nothing. For the leafs cap space leans just as much as any player except Matthews on the team. So using Marner this year just to let him walk for the space isn’t a crazy idea. To escape Dubas’ dumb moves some unliked stuff will have to happen. And it’s time to choose between Marner and Nylander since both of them are non physical star forwards who cost a fortune, can’t hold onto two of them.
As for Robertson I can see them sitting him. If they don’t plan on keeping a guy like Marner after this upcoming season then they’ll want a non physical speedy offensive forward to take on that roll.

They will need to get Robertson's handcock on paper first.
Report or is it speculation is that he want out of the Leafs organizations
He's not a happy camper and has no leverage but to hold out for a trade.
I hope he signs and then he and Liljegren are traded for a top 6 forward

The leafs management, under Shanny, were willing so wait out Nylander so Robertson can hope all he wants, if the leafs are interested in moving him he isn’t getting moved.

I didn’t, I was trying to be polite.
Like it or hate it so long as his posts are about hockey they’re more than acceptable, offending other posters on a regular basis? Not so much. - Dozzer
