I was at the Flyers prospect camp a few weeks ago and met him, he seemed like a nice man. He walked through the stands and wanted to meet and chat with the fans. He seemed genuinely interested in meeting people!
- Hosher12

Well it's not like he knows anything about hockey, what else is he going to do besides cash fat paychecks?

nice to see gmdb mention the glue guys in the room like nd --

I’d rather have a glue guy than someone having issues with alcohol or drugs. I think inhalent abuse is easier to treat.

This entire front office is a publicity stunt. Have you ever seen so many happy go lucky executives in one room? They are harmless, cute, and here to make the fans feel welcome and heard. This front office never knows anything about bad news but they'll be happy to look into it and get back to you.

The kid has skill. They are going to market the heck out of him but that will also raise expectations for the team that just missed the playoffs and is returning it's entire roster from last year.
- Flyers_01

Hopefully he's be so good that even the Flyers can't (frank) him up.

havent had anyone like him in decades so we shall see. They will focus on his weaknesses instead of the strengths. That you can count on.

I don’t get it with some of you, you would bust his chops if executives didn’t want to meet fans and but bust his chops when they want to meet fans!
How sad life must be for you to look for the negatives in most situations!

The kid can literally just pack up and go home any time he feels like it.

Flyers/Torts had better tread carefully (seems like they are so far w/ the welcome wagon and guaranteed roster spot)

Michkov ain't gonna put up w/ the Frost treatment, that's for sure.

I don’t give a rats ass if a Flyers executive is a man among proles like Hilferty or a boardroom sociopath like Dave Scott. I care about the direction of the product on the ice and Hilferty hitching the Flyers wagon to Tortorella is laughable and worthy of scorn. Same as it was when Dave Scott and his action bias hired Fletcher.

Same circus different clowns.

Maybe he turned them down when he found out that it would be a triumvirate with Q and MacIsaac.

I care more about having a serious front office that can chart a plausible path to the Stanley Cup, which the Flyers do not have.

Hilferty - Random Health Insurance exec but good at collaborating. ZERO hockey knowledge, zero NHL front office knowledge.
Jones - No front office experience, never wanted to be in the front office but likes being on TV and is a recognizable face.

2 out of 3 people in the Flyers front office never worked in hockey management in any capacity, nor were they looking to join a front office. They were hired by comcast to help "sell" the Flyers to the fans. Even Briere has the thinnest resume you've ever seen.

The senior advisors have the most experience in running the team and they are still around.

Senior Advisor Bill Barber
Senior Advisor Bob Clarke
Senior Advisor Paul Holmgren
Senior Advisor Dean Lombardi

Senior Advisor Bob Murray
Special Advisor, Hockey Operations John LeClair
Special Advisor, Hockey Operations Patrick Sharp

Hilferty and Jones had no qualifications and neither had to sell the Flyers on their vision of the hockey club. Hell, the only things we've heard about John LeClair/Patrick Sharp is how they were used as props in vilifying Cutter Gauthier from the PR team.

Anyway, let's get back to extending every 30+ 3rd/4th line/3rd pair player on the team to lifetime contracts because they are going to culture their way to the Stanley Cup on their walkers but pay no attention to the team building because we have this shiny toy in Michkov over here.

Like it or not, it's more important for the Flyers to appear successful than to actually try to be successful. That's not being miserable, it's life in corporate America.

Yet he consented to be a prop for the PR team.

All these photo ops, who is asking the Flyers brass the tough questions, anyone? There's been very little criticism or critical thinking by the press. Comcast owns the room. Snow the Goalie has become a PR arm, ASF is afraid to say boo to the team, hell even the Athletic has bent over now that they were bought out.

Everyone is just breaking their arms patting themselves on the back every time there is a press conference.

You mean by Clarke doing him a solid and trading him to a team he requested in Chicago? And then he willingly comes back to work in the organization. Yeah , he had it rough.

Please elaborate? Or any example you have to point to? I never see anything regarding Sharp in the news other than when he and LeClair tried to talk to Cutter.

The one where he sees the goalie put his glove up and then scores low is the most impressive.

JFC dude. Why bother watching the flyers at all this upcoming season since you have no faith in the front office!

Briere had 2 drafts and 1 full season of being the full time GM. How about giving him some time.

As for the senior advisor list, do you really think they have any say in anything or maybe they are just asked their options. I guess Lombardi knows nothing, it's not like he was a GM of a SC wining team. Are the Flyers the only team to have former players as advisors?

At the time, Sharp mentioned that then GM Bobby Clarke didn't wanted to trade him away. But his request was granted and he was even able to choose the team. "”I knew the Chicago Blackhawks had a young group that was playing in Norfolk the year before. Jun 20, 2020
