Last night I saw a drunk guy sucker punch some homeless guy. It was a crime. The right thing to do was stop my car, follow them into the alley and render assistance. Or at least call the police.

But I had a child with me and didnt know if we would be the next victims. And was on the way to a doctors appointment so decided not to call the police and become delayed. So I kept driving. Besides, there were several other witnesses so I assumed someone else would take charge.

I learned the sucker punch killed the guy and other victims followed. I'm basically complicit with homicide. I lost my job. My life is ruined.

Why is the vitriol limited to just this narrow group of people? The Blackhawk organization eventually knew the details. Why don't we demand they fold? Why don't fans protest when they come to town? Whoever was hired as the new GM and new coach should be ashamed of themselves and turn themselves into the police! The NHL as a whole should be disbanded. Sponsors should be punished. I do not believe in judging the past, by the present standard. The present standard is set by the debacle that was the Blackhawks situation. In the present we know what happened after the situation with the Hawks. All those involved with the Hawks, from management to players, did not know what the future would be.
Though in hindsight, the way they handled it turned out to cause future pain, they did not know it, at that time.
Thus we have the present, Virtue signaling, people of today, who judge the past, by todays standard.

Again Bowman did not commit the assault, and he has taken ownership of the mistake, their (being many people) decisions turned out to be.

Good point on changing standards. I'm going to say almost every player or coach in the Hall of Fame may have told a teammate who had his "bell rung" to get back out there. Or if a player had depression or anxiety they were likely told by a teammate to snap out of it. All of those Hall of Famers should be ashamed for being complicit in the damaging of other players brains and mental health. I remember Messier joking about MacTavish getting stitches on his helmet less head with a quip about this is what it takes to win the Stanley Cup. It was acceptable then. But not now. Now Messier has learned and if he says it again he should face criticism. Or do we just take current standards and apply throughout history?
