Hoglander straight up for Schneider
Rumour before was that NY wanted him.

If that's offered you'd have to think the Canucks would accept it.

Hogs is trending up. What is Schneider's upside?

Getting a young top 4 RHD with size for a smaller winger who is playing up and down the lineup. Easier to replace wingers through FA than it is to get a solid RHD that is cost-controlled for longer.

While I like Hoggy, he's more replaceable, especially with the depth the Canucks have at forward versus defense.

Just saw the show with the Trail Smokies 1961 world champion series again. For one I’ve worked at Teck (Cominco) many times. Ppl in that town where I knock back a couple tell me stories of those times. What stood out this time around was Frank Selke not supporting Trail calling them a 2nd or 3rd rate team not deserving of financial support to travel & would be an embarrassment to Canada. Just add another Toronto d0uche bag to the list.

Ok I’m very curious…

What if Hog has a similar start to the year as last. On a controlled contract with a 24 goal season already & he continues this. Yes wingers can be replaced easier than other positions but what is his real value? Next what teams could really use him? Lastly what player could he fetch or who could PA extract?

As great as it sounds, it won't happen straight up.

Agree. I hope PA goes bigger for something like Hogs/1st for Nemec or Jiricek. Iorio in a tamer deal.

I don't think Schneider is a top 4 D right now. How much have you seen him play?

I don't think so either, that's why I said that if it would offer I'd think they'd accept that.

Not a ton, but I also don't think Hoggy is a legit top 6 ATM. They're pretty much the same age, dmen take a bit longer so I think the trade would work out overall.

I don't like the idea of giving up on Hoglander to be honest. There's no reason he can't still improve, he has a decent amount of raw talent. Schneider could be a very good defenseman someday, but thus far he hasn't shown enough to say his potential is higher than Hog's.

I'd rather keep the guy who can score goals, when the primary issue the Canucks had in the playoffs was scoring goals.

I'd do the trade in a heart beat.
Halfling, middle-six wingers are a dime a dozen and easily replaceable (if you really have to).

Hoglander is great, but i'm with NYN and agree that wingers are a surplus atm.
If we can flip one of our smaller buzzsaws to fill a need on D...i'd swap him out.

In saying that, i'd rather move Garland and his salary for a middling Dman at this point. I think he's more replaceable by the likes of Heinen, Sherwood, Karlsson, etc.

Rainy west coast day on the island, kind of enjoyed it…gonna be another great year for the Canucks, who enjoyed one of their best seasons ever last year. Really happy with the moves this summer, I think they’re better than last year.
