Gio was captain long before Sutter got there. Part of his job should be to keep the dressing room cohesive Instead he came out and told Tkachuk enough of the sideshow antics, virtually drawing a line in the dressing room. After he was claimed by Seattle, Sutter should have named Chucky captain but in Sutter fashion he chose no one.
Don’t get me wrong MG was a great player for the Flames but not the right choice for captain.

So telling him to cut out the immature antics when clearly no one was on Tkachuk's side somehow divided the locker room and made Gio a bad captain? Yeah, that makes sense. It's not like he won an award or anything for being a great leader. But telling someone to knock off the nonsense, bad captain. And then you think someone whose immaturity apparently divided the locker room should be made captain?
What does a good captain do? Make everyone support the immature antics?
