bingo

when skinner's cap hit is heavy

the skinner buyout was to give them cap space for this season and next, the 2 years laine has left on his deal

- homiedclown

It looks scarier than it is.

Your biggest guys are now easily projected long term. Maneuvering around that hit should not be that hard, especially if an ELC produces 5-6M in value.

Again it comes down to Adams, or likely the new guy, doing his (frank)ing job

I still can't fathom why Adams was in on Laine after buying out skinner. Makes no sense

Skinner was a shell from February on. He had to go.

Laine could very well come back at 100%.

Idk maybe. He hasn't scored 30 goals since 18-19. Skinner has been the more productive player

I have more faith in the 26 year old reverting back to his former self than the 32 year old.

Even tho Skinner could score 60 next year if he plays with McD

It's a reasonable position but the fact that it's even a debatable point makes the whole notion of buying out Skinner to replace him with Laine a weird idea. I wouldn't put it past Adams to waste two months trying to do that but it seems totally nonsensical

Desperation at this point, I'd imagine.

Maybe kicking tires on laine drove the price up for the habs? Paying his full contract is surprising to me.

Overpay for what though. The wingers that are apparently available I wouldn't overpay for. Especially needing contracts at 29 years old.
