So all of our 1st round picks of the last 3 years are in the top 100 or the NHL.
Can't wait till those later picks start to develop. - BetweenTheDots
I always try and stay away from these lists.
Too many times in the past I drew hopw from the opinion of others and teh results were...meh.
especially since they really stay clsoe to first rounders and don't have favorite second rounders that are farther off, so they don't count b/c immediacy is aways a part of these predictions.
This blog was centered around ranking hawk kids, so I did one.
I confess I was wrapped up in the crop of 2025 and spent no time watching much of others, but I have gone back and watched a lot of Rinzel, and there is much to like. He keeps filling out and getting bigger and stronger, and he is all around good with lots of surprising offense at his size. That is why I see him in brighter light than EdMastro, or defense first Nolan Allen.
I keep telling everybody i don't predicting nhl upside until I see the guy in the actual NHL. And I don't mean a dozen games. I think we agree that Kaiser showed us there was some NHL there with his arrival. As much as we would love to see an instant replacement piece on the NHL roster everyone has ups and downs and learns...some learn and take a JUMP and flourish early. some take tinme and play as well or better than the kids thrust in quickly.
The fun thing about the upcoming Kurvers 3 team tourney is that the team the Blackhawks are sending has so few fills of free agents and we get to see plenty of talents kids along side other drafted talented kids.

Hard to say what they will have to give up. There were some rumors that teams are interested in both players, but asking for a 1st or 2nd round pick, but I'd expect that Bowman is trying to negotiate something where he doesn't give up a first rounder.
Maybe there is a prospect that interests a trade partner too. I've seen it suggested and it makes sense that San Jose would be a good fit to move someone like Ceci. The Sharks blueline currently pretty awful.
Maybe Bowman will try to get a pick coming back in a deal, like take Ceci and his one year and I'll give you a first, but you have to give me a second or third in return. - breadbag
Edmonton doesn't even have a first or second this year.

And do what, make them sit the year? You basically have 2 maybe 3 spots available this year for Vlasic and KK/Kaiser/EDM/whoever... and I really don't think Vlasic is losing a spot. - Chunk

I think Foligno's value is determined by KFC. There is no price for experience and knowledge of the game. How he passes that on is just as valuable as his play on ice. He showed that when he went after the asshat who took out Bedard. KFC had the money to spend and he showed Foligno how much he was valued by the team. |

I expect Foligno will stay with the team in some capacity after this contract is up. |

And have 8 + defenseman vying for ice time in the A. That would be great for development. |

If Bowman has to give his 2026 1st snd second rounder because he doesn’t have 2025’s, I highly doubt he would want to gift them to the Hawks. Probably anyone but the Hawks. |

well, he will start phoning teams with cap space, ask why it takes and try to negotiiate, and if no deal go to the next.
I don't think his firing by the league makes him more of less likely to deal with Kyle. It is all business, and he has the bigger issue one of his star players, and the 168 hour clock is ticking on his matching or not.
He cannot trade the two players that signed until next year.
I wonder if the hawks can get the winger in a player to be named later scenario...LOL...but realistically unless you see star scorer in Holloway, the Hawks acquiring him a season later comes with that 2.29 million for one year means his next deal is at least that, right? So everyone from your first drafted forwards to the rest of the kids in the farm will have THEIR agents start at that figure (if they show similar production) and as much as I wanted the Hawks to draft Holloway in the Reichal draft, he may not show scoring dominance quickly (or ever) for several more years.
If both those lurches he is trying to tradec looked any good in the final I would consider it, but I really do not think they did.
I don't think the Hawks need second round picks and to me it is a desperate move to trade away a first rounder in 2026.
The Hawks need to draft another couple top ten forwards, and that isn't the easiest area to find a partner for a trade, even it you offer a couple first rounders and a second.

I thought KD said the Hawks were on to the next phase of the rebuild, and not looking for using cap space for bad contracts, unless the Hawks believe the bad contract actually helps the team. In fact he is now willing (supposedly) in trading his draft capital for the right player(s).

Let's face it, KD screwed up earlier this summer. He should have foreseen the offer sheets to Broberg and Holloway, realized that Ceci and Kulak would have to be traded in order for the Oilers to match the offers, and not have signed Martinez and Brodie as the veteran depth defensemen.
Poor GM'ing if I have ever seen it. He now could have Ceci and Kulak for a couple less million along with a draft pick or two as sweeteners in the trade. WTF was he thinking? |

Really? I think they’ve drafted plenty of forwards that have plenty of upside. Assuming they aren’t going to able to trade for a top 10 pick, that would mean their own draft selection is in the top 10. I think they need to do everything they can to get the kids they have up and running. They are going to have a ton more draft picks over the next couple years. If they are top 10, I think they are going in the wrong direction. |

Why? If they think Broberg is all that they will easily give up a late 1st rounder to keep him. They are in win now mode. |

Because they have to ice a full lineup as well. If I followed properly, you are letting two d-men go to keep one. Say what you will about Ceci and Kulak, but they were part of the playoff team. You then have to find room for another D-man with virtually no space left since Broberg’s hit would take up almost all of their combined salaries (including the $300k they are currently over). |

Just hearing rumors they are shopping both of them. Also another one i hear is Kane going on IR?
I would be fine with either one of Ceci or Kulak for a player to be named later. As I've stated before Murphy is having trouble staying healthy.

I get wanting more assets, but at this point in time, IMO any moves they make should be to make the on ice product better. They have so many prospects already, and extra draft picks. The only thing Ceci and/or Kulak would do at this point is take time away from a prospect whether in Chicago or Rockford. |

I could see one last asset grab this TDL if the team is out of contention for a playoff spot, which I think likely. My hope is Hall, AA and Martinez are having decent years and stay healthy. Individually they each may be worth just a 3rd or B prospect. Maybe KD can package a couple of them for more. Donato, Smith and Maroon would probably get you 4ths, 5ths or 6ths. Trading 2 or 3 guys would open the door for some Icehogs to be promoted for the last 20 or so games. |
