I'd trade a first (probably in the mid to late 20s) to get rid of Kane and let Holloway walk. Unless they can find a taker for Ceci, too. - jmatchett383
I’d take that trade as a Detroit fan. We’d have to shed some salary to make it work |

Kane has to waive first with a full NMC this year. Not sure he would agree to that.

I’m curious what trades/waivers/LTIR strategies will retain them both. - NC_Scott
No good option. All the 5mil+ contracts are NMC except Ekholm, and you sure as heck don't move him. So, maybe Kane to have surgery (LTIR), move Ceci and Kulak, and suffer with Brown, Stetcher and maybe Wanner/Carrick as the 7TH D on the roster. |

Didn't know that, my bad.
Edit: Didn't there used to be a 10% summer cap cushion for situations like this where you need to work things out? If so, when did that go away? |

Pretty sure they can match both offer sheets and start the season with Kane on LTIR. The issue is that they won't be cap compliant like that in the regular season if they bring Kane off LTIR during the regular season. |

I'm surprised Bowman didn't work out a trade for Brandon Saad before the offer sheets were tendered.

Broberg maybe, but not the pair of them. $6.87 mil combined salaries, plus the Oil are already $342k over the cap. Even sending forwards down and running a 20 man roster, they would still come up short. And they'd have to "Stone" Kane for the season. |

I know Brodziak played for the Oilers as well, and I believe his brother who was injured lives in Edmonton. So in case the Oilers haven't gotten the word out already, thought I would post here, for those with the ability to help out. |

Have been waiting for Jackson to respond to the deed by St Louis. Jackson is not part of the old boys GM club so was an okay target by Armstrong. I think the two teams had some interactions on July 01 that Armstrong didn't like even before Bowman came on the scene. I think the Oilers may match both offers although the Broberg offer I would not match and would take the compensation. That's was too much for a young player to make at this time. Holloway with be worth the 2-million by end of the season. I cant wait until Jackson retaliates for the St Louis moves. He isn't the kind of guy nor is the owner, to take that without a response down the road. |

Are these the unwritten rules you were mentioning?
Why would Jackson retaliate when Bowman is the GM?
Can you please elaborate on the interactions they had? |

So Ceci's gone giving us some cap space.
Does that mean we keep Broberg, lose Holloway?

Bowman won two trades today. Let see how the rest of this plays out with Drai and Bouch needing to sign next year

Karma for a disgusting organization that is pro-rape. - Marwood
Love those who spout when they know so little about the situation. It was all on McD, the president of the Hawks at the time, and he did nothing. Others paid for his choices and lack of action, and he ran a tight ship where his word was law in the organization. You did not speak out against him.
Bowman was the one who co-operated the most when it came to the report, which you obviously didn't read even though it was publicly available

Looking like the Oil have found a way to match both offer sheets. We lose Ceci and a 3rd rounder for Ty Emberson but can keep Broberg and Holloway. As long as Kane goes on LTIR.
Oilers traded a 4th round pick for Podzolkin.
Well done management.

I was partly serious actually. You're so overly passionate about this that it got me thinking that I will no longer push you on this subject etc. It's obviously a soft spot with you.
Other than the airbnb in Positano in the spring, I'm not much of a renter.
And I know a few hockey dads that absolutely love their vans. If you've got 3or4kids in hockey a van is quite practical. (Although I guess the new woke crowd doesn't like kids and hordes all of their parents' inheritance to themselves...hey! You should go to Italy... it's magical).
