I've heard that people living in MTL can't use their fireplace for environmental reasons, even if it's been there for years..? not sure if this is true but I thought it was a bit surprising, I wouldn't expect the burning wood to be that polluting compared to a bunch of other worse stuff.

This was likely an aging infrastructure issue, I think.

That being said, they likely overlap, too.

Look at the Pierrefonds / Roxboro area... how many years of extreme flooding before they decided to do something about it? And they have been working on it now for 4 years/summers (mostly along Pierrefonds Blvd and Gouin), not even close to being finished.

And that is just 1 small part of the system...
