Like I said, depends on what else the Oilers offers and if HuGo thinks they can flip him with 50% salary retained.
- Mashadar

yeah, well to make the "flip" interesting for other teams the acquired player usually needs to play well, Cody Ceci doesn't sound like the safest bet in that regard imho.

also having him on the ice means less ice time for another prospect who would surely need it more.

yep, will be very interesting to watch the race.
Struble, wifi, Hutson, Reinbacher, Mailloux... all can go to Laval without going through waivers. only a few spots are open unless Hughes finds a way to trade Harris and Barron.
I don't know... let say for Letang? lol

- fidopro

yeah, I'm gonna let you manage your little Kris Letang fan club lol, it's a definite no thanks for me.

I'm not sure how that wouldn't strike you as the kind of poor move Marc Bergevin would've made back in the day, but oh well, Hughes is in charge now, and I doubt he pulls the trigger on that one...

Ceci on the cheap perhaps fills some teams need for a veteran 6/7 guy.

If he is flipped, no ice time lost. If he cannot be flipped, then do not make the deal.

But I am sure there are a few teams with cap space who would do likewise...

That being said, I bet there is a better market for Kulak (and his lower cap hit) than Ceci.

Going to be interesting to see what the Oilers do int he next few days.

meh, for Letang or something else, these 2 (Harris and Barron) have no future in MTL imo. they also have very little value. I think Hughes will send the kids to Laval and play Harris and Barron hoping they raise their value. he's not the kind of gm to sell low, we saw it with Allen last year. that lasted wayyyyyyy to long.
if kids in Laval are ready and better than these 2.... something will need to happen.

Letang has less of a future in Montreal than Harris and Barron.

Trading for Latang, with 4 years left @6.1M until he is 42, is the kind of less-than-mediocre move that has kept the Habs in the toilet for most of the last 30+ years.

Dumbest (frank)ing idea I have heard in ages.

(Which says a lot, given this is Hockeybuzz...)

Jesus (frank)ing read.

Habs flip him as part of the deal, retaining 50% of salary.

Otherwise, do not make the trade.

Not that (frank)ing hard to understand.

Letang also doesn't have a future in MTL though, as he'll be retiring soon, but I'm already fed up talking about the guy to be honest

and yes, I remember you whining about the goalie carousel last year... I agree it wasn't ideal for any of them, and I do wish it had been resolved quicker, but all things considered it was the right thing to do, and they all ended up playing fairly well despite the situation.
