odds are the Habs will get the Panthers pick, not Cgy

Cgy is tanking, they will get a top 10 pick so the Habs will get the Panthers pick most likely

- Symba007

well then they could trade that one

A most likely late first might not be that appealing unless packaged with something significant.

Habs would then have to move one of Montambeault or Primeau

At this point I don't know which I'd rather keep.

Primeau is younger and had a good season last year but was pretty average with laval before that.

Montambeault is older, more proven, but will never be a true number 1

trade while he might be worth something. anything. like a few others btw.

Could happen, but it's likely his value has already dropped in the eyes of the other teams as well so you'd get way too little anyway.

Let's not completely throw the towel on a 20 year old first round pick just yet.

Montembeault is doing just fine until Fowler takes over in 3-4 years.

And if somehow Primeau outplays him, that's a surprising bonus.

And Dobes has an interesting potential as well, big progression from him during last season.

All that is true.

I was just saying if I had to keep one and trade the other, which would I'd rather see stay.

Right now, it's Montembeault.

He's cruely underestimated despite solid performances for two years now.

He's not Carey Price, he can't carry a bad team on his shoulders. But he's just as good as many other starting goaoltenders in the NHL.

No one wants to shovel Yack poop but I still do it.

It's a little similar to interacting with Waterboy responding to your blog I imagine

I really don't see the Habs trading for Ass Karov with Montambeault, Primeau and...Fowler coming up.

Spend the assets on a top 6 forward with size

and if that player is not available....wait, don't do something stupid. It's the same team as last year....except everyone is 1yr older. We are starting to see the prospects coming up from previous drafts, this is year 3 of their rebuild and it usually takes 5yrs to see most prospects (the good ones) move up.
