He's a huge risk, am I'm guessing Columbus refuses to recognize this.

Everything I've read says the Blue Jackets have set a huge price tag.

So this post did not age well...

Perfect leader and example/tone setter for the youth. I can't see how this cant possibly work out brilliantly for them.

The toxicity that is Laine and PLD is the gift that keeps on giving, never fits in or works out anywhere yet always team willing to overpay believing they have all the answers.

I dont really believe all that about Laine.

cheap gamble by the Habs

Anyone got a scouting report on Harris?
- Atomic Wedgie

it would be like the Leafs trading Lilly for Laine and a 2nd....so yeah

Nothing needed to believe. He's coming off the substance abuse program and hasn't worked well for every team he's played for. 100% a super low cost gamble for sure.

Yeah, just looking at his TOI/GP.

He's 5th in EV and SH, and gets next to no PP time.

I guess it's all about the Habs eating Laine's cap hit.

At such a small price, it's a great deal for Montreal.

Right?!

Not sure he's the best guy to have in the room, but that's a damn crazy good trade.

Patrik Laine is a Montreal Canadien

One of the teams I'd figured he'd be traded to.

The Canadiens have traded defenseman Jordan Harris to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for forward Patrik Laine and a second-round pick in 2026

very good trade for the Habs

Meh, he isn't that far off. Both are 3rd pairing defensemen at this point in their career.

Harris was fine, but he's a very acceptable cost for what he's bringing in.

I'm not going to lie to you - I couldn't pick Jordan Harris out of a police lineup.

But just looking at his stats, I would say that if the trade was Harris for a 2nd rounder (Columbus' 2nd rounder!), the Habs win that trade.

I literally thought he must be a top 5 prospect in their system with upsideand no NHL games under his belt at like 18 -20 years old.

He's a reliable third pairing defenseman so far. Decent skater, good first pass.... there's just nothing that really stands out in his game to make more than that.

We all liked him in Montreal, but we have so many young LHD coming up.... I'm not surprised he got moved.

I'm surprised about the return. Pleasently.

lol don't troll..let the Habs enjoy this. It was robbery for them even if a big risk. Personally I'd be pumped if I was a Habs fan. As a Leaf fan I'll be quietly watching and waiting for it to potentially go all wrong lol

They got Laine with no salary retention, though. And that's a pretty big CAP hit for a very mediocre player.

Getting a 2nd is great, though. And giving up only Harris.

We should at least consider that he can't fetch the same return, don't you think?

The Habs will have at 10.5M on the LTIR.
They need Laine cap hit to reach the max cap before the full 10.5M LTIR is used.

ITs a great deal for the habs...they had the cap space to take his whole contract.
no pressure to really perform as they arent expecting much in Montreal.
