He was suicidal - mental health was the top of the list. Various substance abuses tend to follow while people try and find ways to silence those feelings. I don't know if he was an addict or just someone who was self-medicating and not trying to deal with the real problem.
He's an odd bird, but I'll never forget him posting from his bed on draft day - and basically looking like Connor4real oversharing. I hope he finds his way.

My bad. I didn't realize that mental health was included in the player's assistance program thing. I was misinformed and thought it was just for substance or alcohol abuse. In that context, then he probably was self-medicating. Many of us do it. I do it. I'm not an elite athlete though, according to most scouts.
