Only things I've heard officially are that Ehlers wouldn't sign an extension, but would waive his NMC, and Necas refused to sign outright. Is there more than that? Because there's hundreds of top6/top4 players to choose from. Not all are available obviously, but the options are plentiful. I guess having two or three guys say no each offseason doesn't absolve him, to me.

That's really 2 years out, little different angle there. I bet Quinn's agent loved the Guenther deal. If they feel like they can't fit them all and make a move, maybe that opens a real spot.

Before the draft he was open about his desire to trade the 1st round pick and land a top 6 forward. Predictably, when he didn't do any of it he was over the top about how hard he tried and was in on every scenario imaginable when asked in the presser

Adams sucks. Needs lindy to bail him out and even if they turn out to be good I do not trust that he can make a move at or near the deadline that propels them to the next level

Nashville got Stammer, Marchy and Skjei

Sharks got Toffoli
Seattle got Montour and Stephenson

Outside Stammer, none are super high end, but I think star quality for most. I think Homie has a valid point here. From Johnny Gaudreau to Scott Stevens, big names have signed for small market teams in the past.

Its league wide not just us. I do agree with you though. Its not a bad play and is a good concept but its just predictable now. And If you aren't McDavid you arent breaking through all 4 defenders.

None of those are large market teams IMO. I guess it's how you define it. To me teams the large market teams are the original 6 and a handful of others, New Jersey not being one of them. At most they're middle of the road. Additionally, the Devils weren't some powerhouse the previous season.

I don't believe we were.

I think we were like 6pts out in the middle of March. There was a date where were in the same place as the year before I cant remember exactly which date it was but was pretty ironic given the outrage.
