Willing to place bets that if (and only if) the Islanders are out of the playoffs come deadline time, Brock Nelson will be a Nashville Predator. They have 3 first round picks and Trotz always seemed to really like him. Not to mention their center depth isn't ideal.

It's a good bet. Everyone seems to want to play in Nashville.

Best thing for the future is to trade Nelson.

The fit is just too perfect, if the Isles are trading him. Former coach that loved him is the GM with multiple 1st rounders. Subpar center depth (Stamkos is lining up as a LW so far) and plenty of cap space in NSH.

Fit really is perfect chief. Unless the Islanders have a playoff spot wrapped up, I'm trading Nelson. Even if they are just close to a playoff spot. Trading Nelson and Palms can really help long term.

Really like Nelson but resigning him to a multi year contract no matter where this team is would be incredibly dumb.

I'd take him back on a short term deal but he's got his last real chance for a big contract and he'd be dumb to not capitalize on it. I would assume he'll be looking for as much money and term as he can get.

You would think Brock wants a chance at the Cup? Come on Brock ask for a trade.

I'd guess he wants to win here where he is settled with a family

I didn’t even factor that in as an option. I highly doubt he would do that but who knows. Well they held a lead last night…

Yeah Clutter still has some game left in him. Martin does not.

I have to agree with you there.

This is true Upstate. I still think most players would love to get a shot at a Cup before they retire. Brock has been a good Islander so I would understand it.

Brock has been a good soldier and has developed into a top 6 forward who has played consistently for the team the last three years. While I would love to have stay, signing him for more than 3 years would be a mistake. The rub here is that this is his last chance for a big payday. I cannot fault him or the organization from moving.

Heck, they could give him his chance at a cup if that is his primary goal. Trade him at the deadline to a legitimate contender. The team cashes in on his value.

If he truly wants to be here, let him come back for on a reasonable contract.

Lou needs to do what is best for the team. Players will look out for themselves. Loyalty can be taken too far and can cause Cap problems and a stale roster. I only keep Nelson this year if the team looks like they can go on a legit run. If the Islanders are fighting for the last playoff spot, I'm moving Nelson and Palms.
