What’s up fellas, season is finally here

Pumped jones, Mancini and Edstrom are getting a legit chance to prove they belong. Big games for them to start the season

Not worried about Igor. The fact that Drury already offered 11 million per makes me believe they will eventually settle in 11.5. - 11.7 range. It’s all part of negotiating

Even though Smith seems boring and doesn’t get the fans excited, he is probably the best right wing Zib and Kreider have played with since Buch was traded. Expect that line to play much better 5v5

This is interesting. Brodzinski starting as the fourth line right wing. Matt Rempe and Chad Ruhwedel appear to be the extras.

Not a JBrod fan but I have no issue with Rempe not playing 82 games. It sounds like he had a great summer but he still has things to work on and if Lavy thinks having him watch some games from the press box during the season would benefit him I'm all for it. If this becomes a regular occurrence I'd start to question it.

I guess you missed the part where Igor said he wants more than Panarin.

It just depends if he's talking dollars or % of cap.

When Panarin signed his contract was 14.29% of the cap. With the cap now at $88M, that would be $12.57M. The other factor is Panarin signed as a UFA so his contract kicked in immediately. With Shesty's contract, it won't kick in until next year when the cap is expected to be $92M. If he wants 14.29% of that, that's $13.1M.

Let's hope he just wants the highest by dollar amount, give him $11.75 and call it a day. With the expected increases in cap that I've seen ($92, $96.5, $101), by 2027-2028, an $11.75M contract would be 11.63% of the cap

The only question Drury has to ask himself is-

Is Shesty a game changing player - if he is - then you pay -

If not then you negotiate-

I’m talking actual real game changing -

Like when McJesus walked 4 Rangers and scored like he was playing pee wee -

Been listening to Sam for nearly my entire life. The only time it wasn't Sam calling the games back in the early 80's/late 70's was when the game was on WWOR once or twice a week. 40+ years...been one helluva ride. It's going to be strange having someone else call our games next season. Going to enjoy this year as much as possible...let's hope the boys make it a memorable one.

An article came up on my phone that Igor wants a short term deal, anyone else see that?

I saw that too. It was more speculative than anything at this point. But you never know if he will take a shorter deal and then try to bank out later. Risky.

I'm still on the side of "whatever it takes" ultimately to get him signed

its just annoying that 11 mil a year isn't enough is all

Agreed. Go 12 x 6 and call it a day. I kinda don't want to go the full eight years. A 37 or 38 year old goalie making 12M is bad news.

While I agree with that, the cap is supposed to go up $4M to $92M next year, and up 4.5M each of the next two years. These are obviously projections and subject to change but if you extrapolate that until the 2032-2033 season which would be the last year of his 8 year deal, the cap will be $123M, making a $12M deal still expensive, but not nearly as bad (9.7% of cap)
