Blomqvist earned the #3 spot all last year by being one of the top goalies in the AHL. Don't get it twisted over a bad preseason game. They want him to get a few games this year when somebody is injured. If he hadn't earned it, they'd have a veteran backup in the AHL

Worst case we are doing top 5 pick draft pick research by November. Best case this was a bad game against a good team and we will be fine.

I think worst case would be having a season like the Pirates just had where you stay in striking distance until the deadline, either but or stand pat, and then collapse. I'd rather stay truly in it, but if they are out early and get a high draft pick and good returns for their rentals, I'll take that over treading water, drafting 12th, and holding on to guys past the deadline.

I think they dont see it that way. I think they see it as we've come close 2 years in a row, with some minor tweaks, they will be fine.

I dont agree with their logic, but I think if you listen to them talk before the season, they think everything is good.

That's definitely what they believe lol. Unfortunately, there's too much data proving them wrong. That's why I've soured so much on Sullivan. It's his job to recognize reality.

Haha totally agree. They weren't as sloppy the second half of period, though... but still some slop none the less. They've had two kill two PPs as well. Just thinking it could easily be 3 or 4-0 for Wings right now and game most likely over already.

Read a TIOPS article where Dubas wasn't on the same page as Sullivan or the big 3. Apparently they wanted him to be more aggressive and of course (much like many of us) bring in a talent for the top line LW and to fill a few other spots. Unfortunately he did the offseason much like he did. Not a big vote of confidence for the team. Then again these 2 games he took the right route.
