Luchanko was fine last night, not out of place. But got a couple of lessons also. On the Canuck's 2nd goal Luchanko was on his guy but took too wide of a turn back towards his own net in coverage and that second was the difference between breaking up a tip in and watching a tip in go into his net. He also made a drop pass in the o-zone and made the mistake of looking back at the puck and got absolutely hammered by Saucy. So these are lessons he will learn, but overall I thought he looked like he belonged.

If all that Luchanko shows is that he is not out of place and looks like he belongs. Then he should go back to juniors. It's only one game but what I'm seeing. Shows he should go back to juniors.

- Sam kept them afloat the first 15 minutes when it was needed.

- the forest played well. me thinks he will score 30-35 this year. he is a player I root for.

- frostsky with his usual type of game. not consistent.

- if joel is to take the next step he can't miss those chances.

- ex selke looks well not good. is he banged up already?

- JD still much work to be done. a healthy season would be a good start then go from there.

- sanheim was good.

take the win and move on.

will the coach dress the same lineup tonight?

I like Cam York's progression. I expect him to be on PP2 sooner then later. He's going to get the 8 year extension, IMO.

I think you have to give him a shot but he hasn't been effective on the PP in his Flyers career.

I don't believe Zamula is the answer at the point- seems too slow on his decision making. I believe York will be more decisive. The PP structure appears to have changed. The forwards look to be interchanging a lot more and more passes to the goal line. Last year, the forwards were very static. Passes from the point to the half boards with an occassional pass to the bumper. Or pass pass from half boards back to the point trying for a tip from a screen. Rinse and repeat.

Sloppy game all around by the Flyers, especially at their own blueline.
- Tomahawk

Early on yes, but the Flyers got better as the game rolled along, and in the 3rd period the Flyers were the better team. Michov especially got stronger as the game went along.

I haven't seen that. Overall last season, Zamula was easily the most effective defenseman on the PP for the Flyers. He has shown the opposite in my opinion of what you state.

Andrae should be QB'ing the 2nd PP unit.

Score effects in the 3rd period. Canucks had the lead, even then, the Flyers had an edge but not a big edge. Overall, the Flyers were drastically outplayed at 5 on 5.

Barely an 18 year old kid playing in his 1st NHL game, I'll give him a few more games before I make a decision. To be honest, I did get goosebumps seeing both Luchanko and Michkov take the rookie laps in warmups, it was a cool glimpse of what I hope will be a great future for both.

Vancouver is a really fast and skilled team, and with the penalties early on plus the layoff, the Flyers had a hard time getting their footing. But in the 3rd the Flyers had the puck more and stopped chasing the game, and at that point they were the better team. In OT, the Flyers were greatly outmatched but hung on. I was disappointed to see Couts and Sanheim out there in the OT, neither can keep up with the speed of Vancouver. Couts especially was behind the game the entire night. I really don't think its going to work out for him in the top 6 this year.

It may not, and if it doesn't the Flyers always can move Poehling up and bring Cates back to centering the 4th line. But man, the Fyers are so weak at center and if they don't make the playoffs this year, this will be the reason why.

In the 3rd period the Flyers were chasing the game. That's why they had the puck more. Score effects. One of your pet phrases. Can't keep up with the game. Sanheim is a very good skater and has no issue keeping up with the play. Couturier is average skater with strong hockey sense and positioning. The team as a whole needs to be much better at 5 on 5.

I'd move Laughton or Cates up, not Poehling. Cates should be in the lineup now over Poehling. There are many reasons why the Flyers may not make the playoffs. Center is just potentially one of them.

Frost was 10-11 on faceoffs for 48%. Percentage on offensive draws needs to come up but overall, he did not get killed at the faceoff dot. He was 3-5 on the PP
- MJL

I'm telling you that stat is completely wrong. The kid maybe won 4 faceoffs the entire night. I watched the game and tracked his faceoffs. I don't know what game these stat boys are watching.

Wow!

Johnson was brutally bad overall last night. Ristolainen did not have a monster game for the Flyers. You crack me up.

- MJL

Well, this is the BIG difference between watching the game and relying on stats. Risto was the Flyers best defenseman last night, and Johnson did well to stay in it. Remember the Flyers were chasing it for most of the game, so the stat are going to be skewed, but watching the game you could see Risto was wining battles, moving well and was shooting the puck more.

I would not play Laughton or Cates in the top 9, both are not good enough. Laughton playing 4th line wing with Hathaway is a perfect spot for him.

LOL, what's wrong is your ability to see what is going on in a game. You should learn what confirmation bias is. This plus Johnson had a solid game. Ristolainen has a monster game. All evidence of it.

Kind of predictable really. The Nucks had already played a game and the Flyers were a step behind the entire first period. Ersson saved their bacon to keep them in the game. The second period was more even and I thought the Flyers played well in the third with the exception of a few shifts after they tied the game. High danger chances were 20-10 in favor of the Nucks. The Flyers are the third youngest team in the NHL with 14 players 25 years old or younger. They have 6 picks in the first 2 rounds in next year's draft. Sounds like a rebuild to me!

Luchanko played well for the most part (missed his check on the second Nuck's goal) and he impresses with his speed. Michkov looked fidgety and overwhelmed early, but I thought he really picked it up in the third. Drysdale doesn't impress me at all and Coots looks cooked. Is he injured already?

Here you are making the stupid statement and speculating that I didn't watch the game. LMAO. I watched the game. Johnson was brutally bad at 5 on 5 and okay on the PK. Ristolainen remains what he was last night, which is a player that has to now play on the 3rd pairing just to get decent results. He was not the Flyers best defenseman last night. Sanheim or York were. The statement of the Flyers were chasing it for most of the game so the stats are going to be skewed, is not an intelligent statement. It is the results of the play on the ice. You have biases along with an inability to assess players and a game.

I couldn't stay up for the 3rd period but regardless, don't you know that it's impossible for Risto to have even a decent game? He is a 3rd pair mediocre defenseman at best. I've seen it posted on here since we traded for him. It's public record
