Cates comes in for Luchanko. Tortorella said that they're just trying to make sure they don't overload it, given the long trip and the time change.

Lmao, send the kid back and get rid of this coach immediately. Bill said he was begging to get Catsey back in

According to the Flyers, or should I say Tortorella, Luchanko is ready to play in the NHL, just not in back to back games. Can't overload him. Yea, keeping him out of this game is sure to keep him from getting overloaded in an 82 game season. Can't make it up.

Nothing surrounding Luchanko has made any sense starting with the decision to put him on the opening day roster and now it sounds like there isn't any consideration to him being sent down after 9 games.

Torts does all his thinking with his gut, his cranium is just used as storage space.

Wow…it only took one game….I’m actually fine with it for one game….but I actually think it would be good to test the kid in back to backs….his fitness levels are off the charts. I do wonder if taking a couple big hits nicked the kid up ?

Luchanko has been playing hockey all summer. It’s not that weird sitting him in a back to back situation. Plus, I think Cates should play.

I have many thoughts on the Luchanko situation and I want to be fair and give it time. I can't help but think that Tortorella will retard his offensive growth and put him on the fast track to being his kind of favorite player. A "two way" player without much offense. Maybe Luchanko can overcome that and his offensive growth will just be delayed. I think they're making a big mistake with Luchanko.

If he is nicked up after one game, how is he going to handle an 82 game NHL season.

Looking forward to what Fedotov can do. The bar has been set pretty low for the backup goalie expectations after last season. Can't be any worse, well........

Canucks were 1 game away from the conference finals using "Backup" Goalies. Losing in 7 to the Oilers who lost in the SC fimals. Demko played just 1 playoff game

Solid points and all but that was last year and this is this year.

Regardless of Goaltending Canucks have swapped out 5 forwards and 2 defence from last years roster. Different teams.

Gonna be a bit for Tocchet to adjust the additions in.

Point is I think we are taking a step back a bit this year. And so far the club on the ice the first two games points to that. So far... lol.

Oh, I wish oh wish we had Cutter instead of Drysdale! This team would be cookin with gas! Drysdale's game just doesn't impress me at all so far. He is like Ghost lite. Seems very weak on the puck in his own zone and kind of looks lost at times, and he really isn't providing any offense to make up for it (at least Ghost did that).

Jd is a bust. Ducks knew it. Flyer didn’t. Fleeced

I wouldn't be concerned about last nights game if I was Tocchet. It's early in the season. The goals will come.

More thinking out loud…. I never like sitting young guys, when at all possible. I think Cates should be in , but I would have picked someone else to sit…that’s just me.

Well first of all, I think Cates should've been playing over Poehling in the first place anyways. If going on merit, Couturier should sit. He had arguably the worst game I've seen him play as a Flyer but that's obviously not going to happen after one game.

Time for Danny to put his purse down and do some actual GMing. Send the kid back to Guelph and inform the coach. He can deal with it.

Holy Moly! First, I agree about Cates over RP. Not an RP fan but Torts seems to love him. Second, a criticism of Coots? Wow....never thought I'd see the day.

I'm sorry if I missed it but do we know for sure that Torts put a mandate on having Jett make the team? I admit I didn't follow much of the pre-season so I am sorry if I missed something. Most on here whine about how Torts relies on the vets....we have a pretty young team and the complaints keep rolling in.
