It's hard not to have big expectations when the source material is great and the LOTR trilogy delivered everything we could've hoped for.
- BashCH

I get it, but it isn't the same director, and although the budget was insanely high it still remains a series, and not a movie, so it's a different experience.

Guess the Hobbit trilogy has been a sign of what's to come...

yeah, and if we're being honest it's very rare for this kind of thing to remain at the same level of epicness, there's always a drop-off at some point.

the Witcher had the same issue with the last season, I thought that one was really disappointing, but I think that was due to poor choices that were moving away from the source material.

Directing doesn't seem to be the problem with unsuccessful series nowadays. It's more about bad writing IMO.

yeah, I think they're trying to transform the source material so that it becomes interesting to a broader audience, but it's a terrible strategy that usually ends up ruining everything.

So, at which point do you guys think they'll switch Armia on the 2nd with someone else ?

Really? If you already have everything set up, feels like hiring a few french guys for commentary isn't that farfetched.

Now there could also be a partnership with RDS/TVA sports to share the feed as well.

- Scabeh

If it is going to be the same feed and the same talking heads, then it will be a quasi RDs or TVA broadcast.

They are not going to bring in their own team.

Not sure why/if they bother.

I didn't watch the 2nd season. The first one looked like a very, very, very long setup for more. Which I found.... fine.... but hoped for more.

But then I saw some nonsense about Orcs having families and being persecuted and figured they probably ruined everything so... I'm in no hurry.

I'm a big fan of the LOTR so I'm likely going to hate it if they went too far away from the core material.

- Scabeh

The second season was better than the first.

I found some parts dragged, some really great action moments and stuff.

A lot of mediocre, but watchable.

The issue is they have to compress time - not only in the number of episodes - but in book lore all these events took place over 100s of years, rather than days and weeks.

As for the Orcs, yes, there are implications of families, but I think it is more to "humanize" the orcs/provide perspective and expand on what what Adar is doing/attempting to do.

Gonna be honest, did not watch the last 2 movies.

But I think (from what I remember) they tried to make it a lot less dark, and for more of a younger audience (like the Hobbit book was to LoTR book).

Failed spectacularly.

I'm guessing they'll be a little patient with them.

Dach obviously isn't in top form but that line has created very little in 4 games. Which is unfortunate since the other lines are pretty much working as well as you could hope them to.

Maybe they'll switch things up by putting Anderson or Gallagher in there but.... I'm not convinced.

The guy I wanted to see there when the season began was Roy but he decided to loaf through training camp.

one thing Dach needs to improve on are his faceoffs, his current numbers are pretty bad, and if he was better in that department it would surely help the whole line to get things going.

Imagine that 2nd powerplay wave with Hutson having the possibility to pass it to Laine instead of Armia?

I haven't looked at his number this season but he's historically bad.

Makes you wonder if maybe you don't end up putting Newhook in the middle instead.

I wonder for Dach if his horrible wrist injury has anything to do with this... winning faceoffs is a very niche talent but it's something you can usually work on. pretty indispensable anyway for a centerman..

Dach will end up moving to the wing when Hage comes to the NHL and has a year under his belt. I think he is a better winger then he is a center.

There is some chatter that he might come up and sign his entry level deal at end of this season. I think he would play a year in a bottom 4 role to get used to the NHL and then take on more responsibilities.

3g 3a in 4 games, not bad for the NCAA, let's hope he stays healthy and continues producing at that level. Comments from people who follow the NCAA are great about him.

We didn't play a bad game overall but the experienced Pens made us pay for every mistakes we made in our own zone.

Learning experience for our young players.
